WASHINGTON — Two lawmakers have sent a letter to the U.S. attorney saying a White House reporter who recently resigned following questions about his identity and background may have information vital to the investigation into who leaked a CIA operative's name to the press.

Reps. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y., and John Conyers, D-Mich., the ranking Democrats on the House Rules Committee and House Judiciary Committee, respectively, wrote a letter to Patrick Fitzgerald (search), the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, saying the Chicago attorney's office may need to subpoena the journal of reporter James Guckert (search ).

The journal recounts Guckert's days covering the White House. According to Conyers and Slaughter's letter, Guckert had access to a memo revealing the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame (search).

Tired of these lame "interviews" focusing on the "military stud" angle, and not addressing the substantive issues of accreditation to WH press corps and, most importantly, information he has about the Plame affair. So far the interviews seem more like E! news than real news.....big surprise....

Not knowing that lie was refuted is not plausible.

Democrat Lawmakers want to know if he had access to classified information. He worked for Talon news, a conservative news organization. Liberal bloggers accused him of having ties to gay web sites. They also accuse him of writing anti-gay articles. Gannon denies these liberal charges.

They can slam the Lefty bloggers as sleaze merchants all they want (we know the truth), but it's the Democrats on the Hill they won't dare accuse of doing the same!

I have no doubt, the barrage of emails into the U.S. Senate in response to Sen. Dick Durbin (my guy!) and Dem leadership's call for an investigation!

I think the call for an investigation has been promoted by others including Harry Reid, but I did not know of Dick Durbin's involvement.
