GOP mum on felon-voter names in WA (Up to their old tricks again)

By David Postman and Jonathan Martin
Seattle Times staff reporters

An attorney for Dino Rossi said yesterday that Republicans went through a rigorous process to identify more than 1,000 felons they say voted illegally in the November election.

But they're not ready to show the names to the public. Even in responding to a subpoena from the state Democratic Party, Rossi's attorneys did not include a single list of the 1,108 felons but rather seven boxes of paperwork they used to identify the felon voters.

The information is key evidence in the lawsuit Rossi and other Republicans have filed asking a judge to overturn the November election and remove Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire from office.

To identify illegal felon voters, Republicans compared voters' names, dates of birth and home addresses with the names, dates of birth and home addresses of people convicted of felonies, said Rossi attorney Harry Korrell.

And I wonder why they're not willing to give out the list? Because it's bogus?

3. Get them all out of prison
There is something in the air already about some, serving sentences, who could be of use to the military.
Hope they get Martha out and give her a presidential pardon and make her Secretary of Great Home Decor-Pentagon!! Where is the enron guy???
There are going to be many who will(like Nixon) get quick pardons for all they have ever done long before they are even charged. Possibly a reporter, not?? That is one way to stop all questions.

4. They haven't told us....
how many legitimate voters were not allowed to vote at all because they were purged along with the 'felons"?

5. Gee, I didn't know this trial was subject to the USA PATRIOT Act!
I thought this was going to be a public proceeding in open court. But Rossi's people apparently think that if secret evidence and sealed testimony is good enough for the USA PATRIOT Act, it's apparently good enough for their frivolous lawsuit.

I wonder if there's been a motion to compel to comply with the subpoena? This is a civil case, not a criminal one, and the rules of procedure are pretty specific and canted toward transparency.

Goddam swine.

7. Might be a good tactic.....
Just on a general level. They spout something off, expect people to take it on faith, only two words should come out of our mouths..."Prove It."

I certainly don't take everyones word at the same value, and to date, I've heard a lot more honest talk from the Dem side.

6. The whole question is stupid as felons can vote in Washington
All felons in the state of Washington are eligible to vote as soon as they've served their time and paid all fines. Did Rossi's spies track down the felons to discover whether they'd had their voting rights restored? I doubt it.

Besides, how many felons do you suppose voted for the ex-attorney general of our state (Gregoire) as opposed to casting a vote for a greasy little real estate developer (Rossi)?

This is a red herring and the only ploy left for a desperate little man.
