Fear of Death Omnipresent in Baghdad (AP)
Fear of Death Omnipresent in Baghdad

2 minutes ago Middle East - AP

By JAMIE TARABAY, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Not even the dead can draw out the living in Baghdad, where fear of suicide bombers keeps many mourners away from funerals. But there are some things the most cautious Baghdad resident cannot avoid: school, shopping and traffic.

"Bombing's become part of our daily life," said Hamdiya Jassem, a 24-year-old graduate student. "The worst thing is that you go out to work, or to university, and you don't know if you'll come back. All Iraqis have car phobia now."

Nearly two years after the U.S.-led invasion, and almost a month after elections, Baghdad remains a terrifying place.

1. Our idea of "liberating" the Iraqi people
is first to bomb the shit out of them killing and maiming thousands and destroying their infrastructure. Then occupying their country with our military and war profiteers like Halliburton - thereby creating an "insurgency" determined to get rid of us and any Iraqi who would collaborate with us - which in turn has created chaos in the streets to the point where the ordinary Iraqi is terrified of leaving his home. And the kicker is that Iraq was no threat to us to begin with. This is a fuck up of epic proportions.

2. Couldn't have "nutshelled" the whole situation any better than that!!!
The situation as a whole just tears me up!!!

And, this morning, I discovered that my youngest brother just got activated. So, I am really fighting the "blues" today.
