A SUICIDE bomber wearing a police uniform blew up a car outside police headquarters in Saddam Hussein's home town of Tikrit, killing at least 15 people, in the bloodiest of several attacks in Iraq yesterday which claimed 30 lives.
Two US soldiers were among the dead in the day's carnage.
The Tikrit bombing, which also wounded 22, and other attacks came as Iraqi politicians negotiated to forge the alliances needed to win the post of prime minister.
The US command said two marines were killed in separate bomb attacks, one northeast of Baghdad in Qaryat, and the other near Samarra, west of Qaryat.
In Tikrit, 129km north of Baghdad, a man dressed as a police lieutenant drove through the station's gates and blew himself up just as dozens of policemen were arriving to relieve colleagues who had worked through the night.
