Official: Iran May Hide Nukes in Tunnels

57 minutes ago World - AP Asia

PARIS - Iran (news - web sites) may be hiding its nuclear technology inside special tunnels because of threats of attack by the United States, Tehran's chief nuclear negotiator said in an interview published Friday.

Hassan Rowhani, who has been negotiating with Germany, Britain and France over Iran's uranium enrichment program, was asked by an interview for the Le Monde newspaper: "Is it accurate that Iran has built tunnels meant to serve Iran's nuclear activities?"

Rowhani responded that reports Iran was building tunnels to hide its nuclear technology "could be true," he said.

"From the moment the Americans threaten to attack our nuclear sites, what are we to do? We have to put them somewhere," Rowhani said.

1. So hurry up and authorize more funds for our mini-nuke bunker buster
bombs so we can make sure and have nukes to destroy those nukes.

It is funny though how "convenient" an opportunity this is for those lobbying for those nuclear bunker busters.

4. How DARE they hide their missiles.
This certainly proves they are a hostile power.
No innocent nation would bury their missles in underground
facilities.

We should launch all our silo'd missles at them *right now*...

8. And what happened to the miles of tunnels that Iraq was rumored
to have? Shit, according to "sources" Iraq was one big ant farm of tunnels and mazes full of bio weapons, nerve gas and atomic bombs. Osama was hiding down there too, I recall.

45. Here's the specifics on some of the Iraq Propaganda ...
On March 17, 2003, Bush, in an address, said, "Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that Iraq continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."

On March 30, 2003, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said, "We know where they (weapons of mass destruction) are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad."

it is that all these ME countries have the ability to build elaborate underground tunnel systems, which are marvels of engineering to me, and yet we can't even get a simple overpass built on schedule and on budget.

47. That's exactly what they did
This is a classic case of US Mainstream Media propaganda. The headline screams "Nukes", but in reading the articles, what the official actually said is that Iran might hide it's nuclear technology in tunnels to guard aganist attack. "Nuclear Technology" as in "power station". AP has intentionally mischaracterized power station components as weapons.

may be hiding its nuclear technology inside special tunnels because of threats of attack by the United States, Tehran's chief nuclear negotiator said in an interview published Friday.

38. Just so you know
This is a classic argument for the pro-bunker-buster/nuclear "burrowing" bombs crowd. It's propaganda, plain and simple.

Also, something to keep in mind, because of my professional background, one major reason why they want this endless succession of wars to go on is because it keeps the defense industry busy for years at a time -- these weapons systems aren't developed overnight, obviously.

39. Yep, that's the PNAC in a nutshell
Continuous war, under the guise of "spreading democracy" or "protecting our freedoms", but clearly only to the benefit of the defense industry. It's about greed, pure and simple, and I can't believe so many people buy that it's about something patriotic or noble.

Iran may hide nukes in hospitals! It is okay if we bomb them!
Iran may hide nukes in schools! It is okay if we bomb them!
Iran may hide nukes in random houses! It is okay if we bomb them!
Iran may hide nukes in tunnels! It is okay to bunker buster them!
Iran may bury nukes in the sand! We need to nuke them!

Notice how all the above statements on the left are true, and how the government will use them to do the things on the right.
