Iran to stand by Syria if attacked
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big News Network.com Saturday 26th February, 2005 (UPI)

Iran's Supreme National Security Council chief Hasan Rohani said his country will stand by Syria if the Arab state is attacked.

"We have always maintained excellent relations with Syria, and in case it is attacked, it can always depend on the solidarity of its friends, and Iran is a faithful friend," Rohani was quoted as saying Friday in French daily Le Monde.

Asked to comment on the possibility of an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, Rohani said: "I do not believe Israel will take such a decision, and if it did it will regret it a lot."

1. . . . and this is how the Great War started, children . . .
a tangle of alliances and mutual defense pacts brought to a head by an irrational act of limited impact.

21. Once upon a time, a short time ago, there was a country called
the United States. It, like all great countries before
it fell due to incompetent leadership and blatant corruption.
Nero played his fiddle and boosh spent his time talking to god.

7. oh dear
John Paul II, predicted to be the last pope before of the rise of the anti-christ is dying.

We are in Babylon (Iraq), Afghanistan, and now a possible four front war in the middle east with the addition of Iran and Syria with possibly Israel on our side.

A President with a serious Messianic complex being influenced by people who want America to be a benevolet empire that conducts never ending wars.

Freedom now means love of country without the love of what it made it great, the document of freedom, the Constitution.

In the words of Phil & Lil from the Rugrats, Were doomed.

8. No, I think the antichrist has arrived
prior to the death of the Pope. * looks as close to one as I ever want to see. I agree with the rest though...

9. I dont think * is the anti-christ
just a beast or false prophet. After all isnt the anti-christ suppose to seduce the world with his tongue and have people worship him. * is one of the most hated Presidents in global opinion. Our downfall of a country will give way to the EU, which I believe the Anti-Christ is said to come from.

ps. im jewish, but I always had an interest in this end times stuff.

14. I'm not all that knowledgeable about that stuff myself
And was never that interested, really, but it's interesting in that this regime seems to want to play a part in it. My comment wasn't really based on knowledge, just on my feeling that when I look at *, I see everything I believe would be anti-Christ, thus I consider him the "anti-christ". You're certainly right about his not having seduced the world, although he has seemingly seduced enough of this country to make him quite dangerous.

I'm a "recovering" Catholic myself, and I don't think we ever studied that stuff - or maybe I just didn't pay attention. Bottom line though - if he isn't it, I do NOT want to see what IS! He's bad enough, and when he meets the God I believe in, he's going to have a lot of explaining to do.

11. 2012
That's the date people have been predicting. Of course, people have been predicting the End for a few thousand years and many times. It does sell a lot of books, so it's good for the authors. At least someone is making money from this crap and with the Bush Junta tax cut they won't be paying taxes on their profits,so they won't be supporting the wars. Yeah, it's a mad, mad world. Mad can mean angry or crazy. I think that it is both now.

15. people have been predicting the End
But the world has never been wired to the extent that it is today. Never. What I mean by wired is that there exists enough nuclear crap at the ready to poison this planet 1000x over, and flatten most of the cities. Plus, you have people in high places who believe that there would be a winner afterwards.

19. The chances of Syria protecting Iran, or vice versa, are zero.
The enmity between these two countries is palpable. The words are just diplo-speak for the two countries in the sights of the BA... empty words for regional consumption only, IMO.

20. what you say is untrue ...
... Tehran and Damascus have been strategic allies for years. Syria was the only Arab country that continued its warm relations with Iran during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
