DeLay Wants Work Permit Seekers to Go Home First
-----------------------------
News Report, Rita Villadiego,
Filipino Express, Feb 27, 2005
------------------------------
NEW YORK --- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) will support President Bush’s proposed guest worker program only if illegal immigrants are required to go back to their homelands to apply for temporary work permits.

DeLay said he recently talked with Bush, and the president was open to suggestions that “you have to apply for it from your country of origin,” the Washington Times reported.

1. Sure Tom. They have lots of money to afford plane tickets
(where they will encounter hostile security scrutiny). And our guest workers from the south will be more than happy to swim the Rio Grande to get the proper papers. Idiot!

2. DeLay is going to miss his nanny
and his gardener and his maid...

What if they never came back? Mr. DeLay would have to do all that ugly housework himself, leaving him no time for politics.

On second thought, this might not be such a bad idea.

3. So 12 million workers are going to drop everything
and take time off, travel thousands of miles (for some), to file paperwork?

Surely the generous employers will hold their positions for them, waiting tables themselves in most cases. And coming up with cash for international travel is a BREEZE for immigrant labor- that luxury vacation you've been saving for? The time is now! :eyes:

Duh; I remember now- this isn't a reality based politician.
