Russian Nuclear Energy Chief Defends Iran Deal
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=worldNews&storyID=7757980

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's nuclear energy chief on Monday praised a nuclear fuel supply deal, signed with Iran at the weekend despite U.S. concerns, saying it would help stop the spread of nuclear material.

Under the deal, Moscow will take back all spent nuclear fuel from Iran's Russian-built Bushehr power plant -- a key element in Tehran's nuclear program, which the United States suspect is aimed at developing nuclear weapons.

The head of Russia's Atomic Energy Agency, Alexander Rumyantsev, said the deal would provide Iran with power plants, but keep it from developing a full nuclear cycle, which includes enrichment -- a stage at which material needed for a bomb could be obtained.

"This agreement enhances international security in terms of preventing the proliferation of nuclear materials," he told a news conference, adding that Moscow had sought to persuade the Iranians that they did not need the full cycle now. snip

The White House had no immediate comment on the signing of the supply agreement.

1. The US wants "nukes to be Irans's WMD story" and having Russia
back up Iran makes it harder for shrub's march on oil and keeping the oil currency the US dollar.

2. This IS going to be trouble for Chimp Boy and his minions

That is why the big important story over the weekend from MSM has been that Saddam's 5th second cousin was "captured". Someone was told to downplay this Russia/Iran story. That is why the WH has no comment. That would keep the story on the front pages. Bush and his MSM lackeys would much rather have us talking about important stuff like Charles farted so Camile is very upset about it, and the queen has no comment.

3. I must be dumb
because I cannot figure out this recent attack on Russia, Putin etc. Next thing that will be suggested, implicitly and then explicitly, is that Russians are evil atheistic communists. I really expect to see it happen through the ministry of propaganda in the WH. But I cannot understand why--because Putin deals with Iran?

6. this might be a possible reason
http://moscow.usembassy.gov/embassy/statement.php?record_id=120
from a interview with the american ambassador to russia

"- Could you please comment on the story being discussed in the media for a second day concerning Mr. Dubov and Mr. Brudno, who are on Interpol's Wanted List and were present at a White House breakfast. Apparently they were granted visas, and security guarantees by American officials. Do you have any comment?"

"A judge has dismissed an attempt by Russian oil giant Yukos to gain bankruptcy protection in the US.

Yukos filed for Chapter 11 protection in Houston in an unsuccessful attempt to halt the auction of its Yugansk division by the Russian authorities."

russia is taking back control of strategic resources that "found" themselves in foreign hands after russia went "democratic".
