Poll: Social Security plan support drops
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-02-28-poll_x.htm?POE=NEWISVA

By Jim Drinkard, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — Only one in three Americans approves of President Bush's handling of Social Security, his lowest rating on the issue since he took office.

A USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll conducted Friday-Sunday found that 35% approved of Bush's Social Security record, 56% disapproved and 9% had no opinion. That was down from three weeks ago, when 43% approved. In March 2001, just after he took office, 49% approved.

The poll included several pieces of bad news for Bush on the issue, which he has made his top priority this year. The president traveled to eight states in February to make the case for an overhaul.

Bush is calling for action by Congress to shore up the system, which he says will go "bankrupt" in 2042 unless changes are made. As part of the overhaul, he wants to let workers divert part of their Social Security payroll taxes into private accounts that could be invested in the stock market.

15. Bush is having an "arrogant little" "MANDATE" to respond to both of you.
This is one of those great facts, true events in politics that really means something ... Bush has been humiliated and knocked down in just a few days on this issue. 35% is too far back to finish the race. Who cares what Lieberman does? Bush lost this issue, his air of invincibility is gone, he will be taken down by the new media and the will of the people. He'll have lots of time for MAN DATES.

10. Pretty soon Bush will have to link Social Security
to the War on Terror:

"If we don't allow private accounts, al Qaeda will hit us again!!!"

Or how about:

"It would be tragic to achieve freedom throughout the Middle East just to lose it for our senior citizens."

Bushco's flacks are openly booed and hissed when they go out and polls are showing that the more people are told about their "plan" the less they like it.

14. Hey hey, ho ho, social security has got to go. Hey hey, ho ho....
At Santorum's meeting in PA the young republicans said it all. That sums up the doublespeak and true agenda of these right wing fascist wing nuts. The young ones were to naive to realize that they can't really say what they mean and win. We owe them a small thank you for exposing the unvarnished agenda. "Out of the mouth of children..." and they were old enough to know better.

So now I hear the Republicans have a nine year old leading the charge. In another time that would be funny.

21. It's LESS than that where I live and I'm in a BIG CITY!
I know of NO ONE that will stand for SSI changing - period! NO ONE! Elderly, young, middle-age, single, married, gay, hetro, white, black, native american (self), Catholic, Jew, Methodist, Lutheran, Atheist, conservative, liberal, middle-of road, Independents, you name it - Doctors, Lawyers, and my personal family Indian Chief combined.. :)

NO ONE will stand for any of this and everyone I know, especially those that one would with certainty assume to be conservative are against touching SSI, Medicare, and are disgusted w/this Adm!

24. But...scary...
...happened to be listening to Ed Schultz today; he opened his show by stating that the 'pukes are determined to ram this through, regardless of public opinion (some democracy, huh?).

He said they were calling in members of congress and telling them in so many words that they had better get behind this, no matter what they were hearing from their constituents at home, because * wants this. And, apparently the 'puke congressional leadership is reminding members up for election in '06 that they will be targeted if they don't go along.

So, apparently * is so mean-spirited and obsessed with demolishing the New Deal that the 'pukes will try to ram this through, no matter what. I remember hearing a couple of interviews with one of *'s Harvard Business School professors, who said (among other things, e.g. what a lousy student * was), that * believed social programs were socialism and how much * hated FDR. So, this obsession of *'s is clearly pathological and of long standing. We all know how determined the evil little monkey gets when he wants his way.

Sounds as though they will not give up easily. I am scared, scared, scared.

Please post any updates so that we can keep informed of their evil agenda.

It's gambling. Gambling is a SIN.
