Kansas Party Official Throws Support Behind Dean
Dean Spokesman Says Endorsement Gives Campaign Local Visibility

POSTED: 1:10 p.m. CDT September 22, 2003
UPDATED: 1:27 p.m. CDT September 22, 2003

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean has received his first endorsement from a Kansas party leader.

Larry Tenopir, a Topeka attorney, is supporting the former Vermont governor. Tenopir has been a Democratic activist for three decades and is one of Kansas' two representatives on the Democratic National Committee.

Tenopir also is a "super-delegate," someone who is automatically chosen to attend the party's national nominating convention in Boston next year. Kansas has seven super-delegates, including Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, and 41 delegates overall.

Dean spokesman Garrett Graff said such an endorsement is important because it gives a campaign visibility with local activists when a candidate does not have the resources to form a state organization.

8. Yep
But it is a very hard bitten group of boys and girls. We are strong in Wyandotte Co and Douglas Co (KCK and Lawrence) primarily.

7. The Dean Machine Moves On
Dean's Machine is growing expotentially while Clark trys to figure out what he believes in now that he has chosen to be a liberal after being a life long Republican.....doesn't this seem fishy to anyone?
