Darrell Issa, who started recall, now tells voters to reject it (!)
The GOP congressman whose money put the recall on the ballot urged Republicans Monday to keep Democratic Gov. Gray Davis in office if neither Arnold Schwarzenegger nor Tom McClintock pulls out of the race by election day.

"If two major Republicans remain on the ballot, I'd advise you to vote 'no' on the recall," said Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista (San Diego County), who spent more than $1.6 million of his own money to help gather signatures to recall Davis.

"It would absolutely guarantee that (Democratic Lt. Gov.) Cruz Bustamante will be the governor, even though a majority of voters are asking for a no-tax solution" to California's budget problems, Issa told a lunchtime meeting of the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco

Let the Dems vote "YES" to the recall and "YES" to Bustamante so widdle Dawell's worst nightmare can come true. Bwahahaha!!!

2. This is bloody hilarious!
So, let me get this straight... if there's more than one Republican in the race, Gray Davis isn't that bad after all and should be allowed to stay?

Another great one from Darrell "Gone in 60 Seconds" Issa!

26. HERE'S what you can add: (202) 225 - 3906 - ISSA'S OFFICE #
Locally, it's (760) 599 - 5000

The TOLL-FREE CAPITOL HILL SWITCHBOARD NUMBER IS:

1 (800) 648 - 3516

Call him and tell him how you feel about him!

I just did! It felt great! Told his staffer to tell Issa I would like him to crawl back under the rock he came out from, and I hope he plans to pay for this mess he made, and thank you VERY MUCH for making our state the laughing stock of the entire country. Then, I offered my condolences to the staffer, saying I felt bad for him having to work for this schmuck, because it made HIM look bad, too.

Then, I called MY congressman, Henry Waxman, and asked his staffer to ask him to go over to Issa's office and quote me.

Wanna have some fun? DO IT!

13. Don't hold your breath.
If I had my druthers, they'd hold the damn election as scheduled, then immediately take up the question of REDISTRICTING about a dozen of these GOP clowns out of CA's congressional delegation. No gerrymander too convoluted. Perhaps somebody from CA can tell the folks in Texas, "you people started it; if you don't cease immediately, we'll bury you with our own unfair (to Republicans) map.

8. Seventh Wonder on the Eighth Day
Issa desperately is trying to keep is name in this mess for whatever he can get out of it. His ego just won't let go.

This dumb Repug isn't sure who he's more pissed at...Davis or his own "brothers" like Drier, Rohrbacher, Cox and Cunningham who deserted him the second Rove said "Ahnold".

Somehow this yahoo thinks he's still relevent in this game. Somehow that his 1.6 million that paid for the petitions gives him a louder voice now than in the past. Somehow that the petition made it to recall is his victory and this is somehow his victory lap, yet his political future appears to be limited to his little Conservative enclave...until a Democratic California legislature redistricts him into the Pacific.

10. Maybe he can spend another $1.6Million tying up the recall in the courts.

It's only government to the highest bidder... C'mon Darrell, you paid 1.6M to start this thing. Pony up another 1.6 to stop it.

11. This whole unbelievably ridiculous debacle points
up two real interesting facts: 1) the neo-facists really do not know what they are doing; 2) the "regular" Republicans are showing that they have had enough.

For some reason, Rove and the Emperor thought that Schartzenazi would make a great Republican candidate! Why? Who knows? Did they not vet the Muscle from Munich (I know he's from Austria, but so what)? Did they think that 'Hey, it's California, come on, they'll vote for anyone!'? How on earth can these morans stay in power when they can't pour piss from a boot, with directions on the heel?

17. "…Schwarzenegger is the only viable anti-tax (on the wealthy) candidate…"

"It would absolutely guarantee that (Democratic Lt. Gov.) Cruz Bustamante will be the governor, even though a majority of voters are asking for a no-tax solution" to California's budget problems, Issa told a lunchtime meeting of the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco.

Both McClintock and Schwarzenegger have said they would not raise taxes, while Bustamante has proposed boosting taxes on the wealthiest Californians to balance the state budget.

While most Republicans aren't naming names, it's clear that it's not Schwarzenegger, the Hollywood action hero who's brought his boundless star power to the race, whom they're suggesting drop out.

"Since Arnold Schwarzenegger is the only viable anti-tax candidate on the ballot," said Todd Harris, a spokesman for the actor, "my guess is that this was Congressman Issa's nice way of putting pressure on Sen. McClintock to avoid turning Sacramento over to Cruz Bustamante."

The number one priority of Republicans: Tax-cuts for the wealthy.

34. Where do people expect money for services to come from?
the Indians???

"In every poll, more than 50 percent of voters support no-new-taxes candidates, while 34 percent support someone who will raise taxes," Issa said.

<snip>

Speaking directly to the camera, Schwarzenegger says in that ad that it's time for the Indian tribes to pay a fair share of their gambling revenues to the state."

18. Mission accomplished
The direction of this "recall" seems to be about getting the public and the courts to insist on using black box voting machines. Its not who casts the vote that counts.. its who counts them.

Sounds like he's over the trauma of being rejected by the California GOP. I've been wondering what he's wanted to do to get them back. Maybe he can send a letter or e-mail to every one of those million signatures he gathered.

Unless they think that Davis is going to revert to his pre-recall persona. I don't think the people of this state would allow that.
