Bush’s NY Poll Numbers Drop Sharply

President Bush's approval rating has suffered a double-digit drop among New York voters in the past five months and even about one-quarter of Republicans now say they will vote against him, a statewide poll reported Tuesday.

The downturn for Bush comes in the wake of boasting by Republican Gov. George Pataki and other top New York GOP officials that the president will carry the Empire State next year. No Republican president has managed that in heavily Democratic New York since Ronald Reagan did it in 1980 and 1984.

The independent Marist poll came out as Bush was arriving in New York City to address the United Nations on the war on terrorism and the Iraq war.

Bush's approval rating was 44 percent in the new poll, down from 58 percent in April and a high of 79 percent in December 2001, just three months after the terrorist attacks brought down the World Trade Center towers and sent Bush's approval ratings soaring in New York.

But in the latest poll, 48 percent of New York voters surveyed, including 23 percent of Republicans, said they definitely planned to vote against Bush in the 2004 election.

"There is some erosion at his base, not just an overall alienation among Democrats," Miringoff said.

9. The GOP convention is timed to coincide with the 9/11 anniversary

in order to get the most political bang per collapsed building and dead body.

But this is turning more and more into a big train wreck for the GOP.

States with Democratic legislatures need to keep Bush OFF the ballot in their states in order to get control back from this farce. And, they need to do it in retaliation for the redistricting travesties in Texas and Colorado.

10. If what I saw/ heard in NYC the night of Sept 10 is any indication,

the Repukes' decision to have their convention in NYC next year is gonna be one badass blunder.

I went to the "candlelight" march and vigil that night to Ground Zero. Started at 14th Street and Broadway, walked down Broadway, turned at Vesey Street past St. Paul's Church and reached Ground Zero.

(This was my first visit to the site, and I must say that unless you've actually seen it for yourself, you cannot possibly comprehend the immensity of what used to be and is no more)

The ceremony ended with our encirclement of the perimeter at around 9:45 pm, when the church bells chimed, signaling the completion of the "Circle of Hope".

On my way back, I passed by many groups of 9/11 family members wearing photo T-shirts, carrying photos, etc. I overheard, but did not stop to talk. They were talking about * and Cheney, and those names were being taken in vain. Big time.
The antipathy was so thick you could cut it with a knife. It was just as well that neither * nor Cheney came to the site that week.

Bear in mind, too, that this also came right on the heels of that EPA inspector general's report about the EPA misleading the public about the air quality in the aftermath of 9/11.

was a pathetic exercise. Somthing tells me he would have never gone near Ground Zero if Clinton had not gone there days before to cheer the rescue workers on. The rescue workers responded by chanting "We want you back, we want you back." (Somehow the Librul Media buried this story...) After that Rove decided Chimpy better put in an appearance.

16. I really think the WH scrubbing of the EPA report

was huge news. If their motives were too assure people to go back to work then they were once again pandering to business over the lives of ordinary citizens(who,of course, they touted as heroes in their photo ops.)

If the motive was something more sinister, such as clearing out evidence,even against objections of firemen and engineers, then that is an even darker story.

Either way, they jeopardized peoples lives for their own agenda. I believe this now makes many more questions about the BFEE involvement in 9-11 more plausible.

After all, if the WH lied about this thus jeopardizing peoples health, what else would they lie about and how insignificant is the average citizen to them?
