House Dems Send Clark Recruitment Letter

A growing group of House Democrats backing Wesley Clark's presidential campaign sent a letter Wednesday urging their colleagues to join their bandwagon.

Mississippi Rep. Gene Taylor (news, bio, voting record) signed on to the effort along with nine other Democrats who had already said they were supporting Clark.

The letter outlined Clark's military career from graduation at the top of his West Point class to command of NATO (news - web sites) forces in Europe. It said Clark is the best choice to lead the Democratic Party and the country and closed by inviting members to meet him Tuesday afternoon on Capitol Hill.

Clark also will court minority lawmakers, attending a Congressional Black Caucus (news - web sites) dinner Saturday in Washington and a Democratic Hispanic summit Sunday in Albuquerque.

3. I believe the correct spelling is HUAH. Read the latest

issue of Harper's Magazine.

It has to do with the militarization of American culture.

I don't find the term hip, funny, or cute, and I honestly admire and respect the U.S. military.

We don't beat Bush by being like him. And "HUAH" is a term he has used repeatedly, via the U.S. military, as a campaign prop.

I haven't read the current Harper's yet, tho I look forward to reading your reference. The July issue had a nice one, The Romance of Empire, by Thomas de Zengotita, which talked similarly about fascination with 'gear' that struck chords.

I see more of a pseudo-militarization, a fashion wave that comes and goes in our history. The late '70s had a nice one.

And there are various arguments for one spelling vs another, recently discussed on a c-span Booknotes episode. Maybe we can have an Army version and a Marine version, etc.

Just because he dishonors the flight suit, doesn't mean the real warriors who wear them are dishonored.
