BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Eight U.S. soldiers were wounded and their vehicle destroyed when their convoy was attacked in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul Thursday, a U.S. military spokeswoman said.

"At 0910 (1:10 a.m. EDT) this morning there was a complex attack on a two-vehicle convoy in western Mosul," the spokeswoman said.

"The attack consisted of two IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) followed by small arms fire. Eight soldiers were wounded in action, three seriously. One Humvee was destroyed."

1. Wait a sec! That's not the Sunni triangle!
You mean people in other parts of the country hate us too? Or are our troops getting attacked no matter where the fuck they are?

7. Yeah and this ain't Gunsmoke either
They don't just give you a shot of whiskey and tied a bandana around the wound and send you back out to the cattle drive.

Truly a shame.

3. When people realize it's not only the deaths that are happening
but how many people are being seriously injured (over 1600 so far), and how many have returned for physical and mental illness (over 6000 more), then maybe they'll get a clearer picture of the HUMAN cost this fiasco is extracting from us.

4. It's really looking more and more...
Like "Iraqmire" every day, isn't it? :-(

I think every family of lost and wounded servicemen and women should be allowed at least one flog each at Dub--bound in a stockade--for his "Bring 'em on!" idiocy.

B-)

10. Wounds Are Casualties, Sir
No one was killed outright; that is quite possible. Likely one or two of the unfortunates described as "seriously wounded" will die; if they do not, they will certainly emerge maimed. That term is generally euphemism for traumatic amputation and such like.

A US military convoy was hit with an explosion and ambushed in this northern Iraq city today, leaving at least four American soldiers badly wounded, witnesses said.

About 10 witnesses reported seeing the bodies of four US soldiers but there was no confirmation of their deaths after the attack on a main road in front of the telecommunications centre.

The US military said it had no report of the assault, which witnesses said occurred at 9.30 am (3.30pm AEST) in this city which has seen frequent attacks on US occupation forces.

One witness, Mohammad Ali, told reporters: "An American jeep was blown up at around 9.30 am and an American car. I saw the bodies of four Americans who had died, one of them without legs."
