Clark in Spotlight as Democratic Candidates Debate
Retired Gen. Wesley Clark presented his credentials as a Democrat on Thursday with a biting attack on President Bush, then joined nine presidential rivals in a mix-it-up debate over tax cuts, Medicare and the job-shedding economy.

Bush is "a man who recklessly cut taxes, who recklessly took us into war in Iraq," said the newcomer to the race and his party, confronted with favorable comments he made about the Republican president as recently as 2001.

For the most part, Clark's rivals avoided criticizing him throughout the two-hour debate -- but not so one another.

<...>

Challenged about his political pedigree, Clark had a ready reply.

"I am pro-choice, I am pro-affirmative action, I'm pro-environment, pro-health," he said. "That's why I'm proud to be a Democrat."

In a slap at Bush's foreign policy, the former supreme NATO commander said the United States should "engage with allies, be a good player in the international community, should use force only as a last resort."

2. Has there ever been such an obvious push by the media and power elite
for a candidate who's done nothing up to this point then all of a sudden, within a day, he's the savior?

3. If the Whore Media Wants to Side With Us for Once, I'll Take It
I think Clark can potentially appeal to the media more than most. IMO, it's naive to dismiss this as a negative, when in fact as a practical matter, it is an ENORMOUS positive.

5. Good to See YOU, My Friend!
I am firmly in General Clark's camp. I believe all of our candidates would do a fine job, but in my opinion the General has the best chance of defeating the usurper with a large enough margin to make a difference in Congressional races, and to prevent him from stealing it.

My best wishes to you, as always.

6. That's how I feel
and that's not a criticism of any of our other candidates, who are wonderful.

8. Hey, Dove-
I just got an e-mail from CSPAN with their schedule for tomorrow and there is a listing for a town meeting with Wes tomorrow night at 7 PM. I just thought you should know. There's no more info about it, though. I'm looking forward to it. :)

9. Hey Darker....
Why do you bother coming on Clark threads. You don't support him which is fine. But you continually slander him with absolutely no documentary back up other than right wing half truths. Why would you want to do that to ANY Democratic candidate.?

12. Earlier in the day when I read the speech he gave to Repubs
I admit he lost a little stature with me. But I should've waited to see the debate. Clark immediately gained me back tonight with his answer. I thought he did well. I wish he had gotten more questions. In fact I thought several of the upper tier candidates didn't get enough questions.

But IMHO all the Dem candidates did well tonight though Joe Lieberman is still too DINO to be electable in a general election. I thought Clark, Dean, Kerry, Edwards, and Gephardt all did well.

And yes Kucinich did well too but he's too left and his Peace Dept makes him unelectable in a general election. But that's just my opinion.

Same with Braun and Sharpton. But as usual Sharpton had some great retorts. I think he ought to seek a congressional office. He be great on the floor of Congress. Be fun to watch him bitch-slap some Repugs there.

13. Today's WSJ had an editorial by Lush Rimjob on Gen. Wesley Clark.
Edited on Thu Sep-25-03 11:48 PM by Yo_Mama_Been_Loggin
The fat anal cyst man compared him to General George McClellan who ran against Lincoln in 1864. I'm amazed El Blubbo is smart enough to know who McClellen was but I wish his corpulence would realize that George W. Bush is no Abraham Lincoln. Nor for that matter is the war on Iraq the moral equivilant of the American Civil War.

About the only similarity between then and now is the country being in a whole world of shit because of an over reaching decision by the U.S. Supreme Court.
