Kodak shares dive 18% (when Kodak asks investors to *gasp* invest)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3141414.stm

Shares in photography giant Eastman Kodak plunged18% after it revealed its new strategy to adapt to the growing trend for film-free digital cameras.

Investors rushed to sell the shares after they learned Kodak plans to fund its switch to digital products by cutting its dividend pay-out to shareholders by 70%.

Read down for the analysts explanation for dissing the stock and ask yourself who Joe-tech-clueless wants to buy a digital camera from.

1. Ummmm. . . . . .
There are many investors out there, including many senior citizens who depend on their dividend checks just to make ends meet. These investors are invested in stocks such as these, solely for this purpose.

To ridicule them for wanting to sell, so they can get into another investment that will provide an income stream, shows a misunderstanding of the situation, if not downright hostility to people solely because they are investors.

2. How Many of those Seniors
Do you think we quick enough on the draw to be in the first part of the sell-off?

But thank you for exposing the myth that claims stock holders are investing in a company, rather than the ponzi scheme it is.

Kodak cut its dividend by 50 cents from $1.80.

That's still one helluva nice return on what was a $27 stock.

3. Kodak is in its Death Throes
As a former employee, let me tell you there is so much wrong with this company I am surprised it has lasted this long. They have abused their employees for so long and are still too heavy in middle management. I dumped my stock years ago. Anybody want some worthless stock options?

4. I beg to differ....
Joe tech-clueless still has a problem - a big one- taking pictures at night.

There's still work to be done here, but frankly, Sony et al. (no Nikon??? that's kind of silly of 'em...)are doing ALOT of work here, too.

5. As a current employee ...
I am 1 week away from knowing whether the latest rounds of layoffs will affect me. I feel very safe because first of all, I work in a division that does not have anything to do with commercial picture taking. My experience level positions me well for being retained. I have also been assigned to the next project (anything can change).

Digital is the way for Kodak to go. If they do not, they WILL left way behind, and may risk death. Kodak is not going to go away soon. I am very optimistic about what this company is doing. With the stock drop, I may gobble up a few extra shares.

Cheers
Drifter
