One very tough question after another. From her role in the yellowcake mess, to WMDS, to outing Wilson's CIA wife, to the cost of the reconstruction. Russert even followed up a few times which is new for him. He kept coming back to--if we were wrong about the WMDs, would anyone have supported this war? Condi kept repeating the Kay report, the Kay report.

It started with the (unjust) attack on Iraq in 1991, continued with sanctions, periodic bombings, puppet "inspections", assistance to Iraqi rebels and illegal no-fly zones; and picked up intensity again with the 2003 invasion.

Of course, even if you dismiss all this stuff, this war can't properly be called "preemptive". A preemptive strike is when you attack someone who's almost certain to attack you in the immediate future.

In a warped sense, it could be seen as a "preventative" war of the sort that right-wingers in the U.S. clamored for against the Soviet Union. But that's not right either. It was an imperialist adventure, period.
