WOMEN are worth more money than their male counterparts in a new list of the 400 richest people in the United States.
Published by the business magazine Forbes, the table reveals the women have an average net worth of £1.96 billion compared with the men, at £1.45 billion.
And while previous lists have included more women than this year’s 50, the current ranking features more self-made female moguls than ever.
The new list sees Meg Whitman, owner of the internet auction house ebay, and Marcy Carsey, who produces the sitcom Friends, pushing aside the usual cast of corporate heiresses - the Waltons, Annenbergs, Cargills and Krocs - who have populated the list since its inception in 1982.
