British PM tells party convention prewar intelligence will be proven right

BOURNEMOUTH, England (AP) — Prime Minister Tony Blair defended the U.S.-led war to topple Saddam Hussein and insisted today — despite the continuing lack of any evidence — that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

Blair spoke ahead of the opening of the governing Labour party's annual convention in Bournemouth. Blair acknowledged he faced difficult times as a leader, but said prewar intelligence on Iraqi weapons would be proved right.

"I don't accept it was wrong at all. We know perfectly well he had these weapons, he had these programs," Blair told the British Broadcasting Corp.'s Breakfast with Frost program. "I think we did the right thing in removing Saddam Hussein."

Blair said he would not apologize for Iraq: "I'm proud of what we have done. We were getting rid of one of the most terrible, repressive regimes in the world's history."

1. Boring, boring, boring
Blair said he would not apologize for Iraq: "I'm proud of what we have done. We were getting rid of one of the most terrible, repressive regimes in the world's history."

Scuse me but the USA and UK are still around as far as I am aware, you liar.

2. "had"....
Big fucking deal.. "had WMDs".. I "had" a '73 Impala 15 years ago. I hate how these bastards keep playing semantics games, so the idiot sheep nod their heads in agreement, and when they're finally called out, they can say "we were technically right". Same shit as the whole "British intelligence sources say..."

5. I guess we should invade Germany next
because they had plans to take over the world 555 years ago.

Just what had Saddam done since DS1 to deserve this label? Is he worse than the nutcase in North Korea? Had he done anything to threaten his neighbors? Hell, I'm not even sure he was behind the alledged Bush assassination. I think keeping Iraq from civil chaos was probably a fulltime job.....as we are witnessing now. It also appears now that his "uncooperativeness" with the UN inspectors was because he really didn't have the weapons he said he didn't have.

6. Sure Tony.
They know he had these weapons. How? What pre-war intelligence will be proven? Is the Niger intelligence going to suddenly become credible? Are the points from Powell’s UN presentation going suddenly go from Power Point to Reality over night? Exactly what intelligence is going to be proven?

From what I see and hear every piece of evidence has been discredited. Was there secret evidence that has been hidden from every person that has investigated the lead up to war? I think that this might be a good to share such super secret evidence.

Let me guess. The evidence is God told Bush.

10. We just need to be patient
Give Blair and Bush a chance to plant the damn things, will you?
It's just taking a little longer than they anticipated.

11. Any time these creeps are so sure of something
you can bet your money that they have something buried that they'll spring at just the right moment -- I'm sure some kind of WMDs or Hussein or Osama will show up just in time to embarass Bush/Blair enemies. But it still won't prove that Hussein was any kind of imminent threat to any body.
