New Tom DeLay Ad Targets Conservatives
New Tom DeLay Ad Targets Conservatives; DeLay Reveals the New face Of The Conservative Movement

WASHINGTON -- April 7 -- The Campaign for America's Future ran a full-page ad in the conservative Washington Times today that introduces House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, as the new face of the conservative movement.

"Once upon a time," the ad says beneath photos of conservative icons President Ronald Reagan, Senator Barry Goldwater, R-Ariz., and President Dwight Eisenhower, "conservatives stood for honest government. Now, their chosen leader is the symbol of money corruption in Washington."

5. The heading of this post is misleading.
The ad is an attack against Delay. The ad is aimed at conservatives, urging them to oust Delay as too corrupt to be a leader. The wording of the headline is misleading.

6. Pretty evident that the wolves are throwing Tom to the wolves
may I share your popcorn as we watch them eat their own?

What I wanna know is what did ol Tom do that finally wnet to far and pissed of Cheney/Rove? The media would not be even mentioning any of this without somebody's okey-dokey. Did Tom get into a pissing contest with Chicken Hawk Dick?

7. Encouraging signs in the Dallas paper..
Maybe this is me just being too optimistic, but I keep thinking that the anti-Delay editorial, articles, and opinion pieces in the Dallas Morning News this past week (in ONE week) are a sign of Rove and others giving the go ahead to get rid of Delay. If the Dallas area deep pocketed elite were still giving Delay $$ before, they sure as hell won't want to NOW after seeing all his donors and questionable activity being splashed across DMN headlines.

I mean, the paper GAVE the website www.dropthehammer.org in the article, they listed the companies/people who have donated, including American Airlines <major local employer in DFW area>..they CALLED these companies to ask why they had donated $, only AA responded <w/ a "we gave it several years ago only because he said he had legal bills he couldn't pay" and they denied giving any current $$.>

Other articles this week alone: The $ he gave to his family members, how Delay "alumni" are making millions as lobbyists....

Look at their Politics/Washington page, it is filled w/ Delay bashing stuff <hopefully it won't change before people look at it!>
It's a register-only site but worth it just to see his name splattered all over a right wing rag and splattered in NOT a nice way (3 bad articles, 2 bad opinion pieces, and before this stuff was the paper's editoral dissing him)

http://www.dallasnews.com/washington/

All of this being in a right wing Texas paper has to be a good sign. It's gone from a slooowww drip---drip---drip to a dripdripdripdripdrip.

14. Sounds good on one hand. But from what I have observed from afar in
Texas politics, the powerful don't shoot a lame horse until they have another well trained, pretty pony to trot out of the stable and into the arena ;)

So who will the dark horse replacement be and how fast can you Texas dig the dirt to expose the new guy?

15. They throw anybody to the wolves who becomes vulnerable
They stepped aside and let ole Trent Lott loose his gig as Senate Majority leader when Trent-boy got whirlpooled in the media for being a little too honest about his admiration for segregation.

They have no loyalty.

16. I think what happened is that he got caught
unlike the rest of them, he got caught in a few underhanded, illegal things. Then, instead of keeping a low profile, he raised his, and also I believe threatened other RW'ers to support him, or else. I doubt that they mind anything he did, just the fact that he got caught, and he overestimated his power.

You're right about the media, particularly since a lot of it seems to be coming from the moonie times. He's a goner from this administration, and it seems they want it sooner rather than later.

8. This is great to see, but
since this guy is both the biggest hypocrite and the biggest bully of recent times (to put it gently), wouldn't it be nice to bring him down in some deeply humiliating way that also shuts the country down briefly, a la the Clinton impeachment, of which he was a primary mastermind...? Reap what you sow...

10. The premise that raygoon stood for honest government is pretty thin
but if it get's REAL conservatives to throw their religio-whacko leadership overboard, I'll give 'em some literary license. This time.

12. I like this ad.
It targets the whole republican party as corrupt. I want to drive a stake through the cold, black heart of this neo-republican party

Recommending for Greatest.
