CIA leak now political hot potato
WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 — Sensing a possible backlash over the disclosure of the name of an undercover CIA officer, congressional Democrats on Wednesday canceled a briefing from the officer’s husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson. Wilson has suggested the leak came from the White House, and Democrats say that should trigger an independent investigation, not the criminal inquiry started by the Justice Department. The White House denies involvement and Republicans accuse Democrats of playing politics.

PRESIDENT BUSH said Tuesday he is “absolutely confident” the investigation can be handled within his administration and reiterated that he has asked the White House staff to cooperate. The president also maintained there is no need to name an outside special counsel.

In Congress, House Democratic aides cited scheduling conflicts as the reason for canceling Wilson’s briefing, but acknowledged that the political firestorm had gotten too hot.

“I don’t think Democrats want to fuel the partisan fire,” one aide told NBC’s Norah O’Donnell. “Why undermine his credibility and give the Republicans more fuel for the fodder? Why give them ammunition?”

2. On the other hand, maybe the Dems are once again showing
that they simply have no backbone. This one is potentially very big, and they should not be letting up on it.

4. Go find Catwoman's post in GD with the PBS interview from last night
I think the story is ONLY going to get hotter. I think the Dems are wise not to create WILSON fatigue and let the story continue to develop before they bring him in.

6. Outing a CIA agent and other dirty tricks byKarl Rove
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 11:39 AM by jody
According to the editor of "Fortunate Son" written by J. H. Hatfield, Rove discussed AWOL's drug problem with Hatfield on Lake Eufaula, OK. Hatfield later committed suicide in Springdale AR.

Some have speculated that Rove used Hatfield to defuse AWOL's arrest for cocaine possession in Houston TX.

Read any of the following books and note how ruthless and successful the Mossad is portrayed.
"Israel's Secret Wars" by Ian Black
"By Way of Deception" by Victor Ostrovsky
"The Other Side of Deception" by Victor Ostrovsky
    "Gideon's Spies" by Gordon Thomas

Is Rove a bit player in a Mossad game plan?

8. The Dems backed off for one simple reason...
the CIA is going to eviserate the Executive Branch. Very few things are bigger than the Presidency...the CIA being one of them. Don't take my word for it, just look what they did to JFK.

If I was Rove, I'd start praying.

11. What if AWOL is out to reconstitute the CIA into the Mossad mould?
From its creation, the CIA has been the playground for the "one half percenters" that now control every major US multinational corporation.

People like William F. Buckley Jr. and George H. W. Bush served with the CIA.

16. No facts, but DoD is studying Israel's tactics for controlling Palestine
and the Mossad with a very small number of personnel is perhaps the premier intelligence agency in the world. They are clearly superior to our CIA.

If someone wanted to improve the CIA, they would study intelligence agencies that are effective and efficient. That would place the Mossad as the #1 group to study.

The Mossad repeatedly says it does not operate in the US but several authors report that they have a very small group in the US.

More recently, Israel said it reserved the right to assassinate enemies of Israel on US soil or other countries. The Mossad would be the logical agency to carry out such an attack since it has a group already trained to do that job.

If one wanted to improve the CIA, then the Mossad would be a logical pattern to follow. That's speculation of course based on the writings of others about the Mossad and they could be wrong.

Good call by the Dems. This White House is up to their ass in alligators now, without the help of the Dems. No need to spend any political capital on it.:D

20. I thought you'd all enjoy this Shrub quote
"We must remember the high standards that come with high office. This begins careful adherence with the rules. I expect every member of this administration to stay well within the boundaries define legal and ethical conduct. No one in the White House should be afraid to confront the people they work for over ethical concerns, and no one should hesitate to confront me as well." George Bush, pResident, Jan. 22, 2001, witnessing the swearing-in of his White House.
