MUST READ--68% favor special prosecutor for leak investigation (WP poll)
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 04:39 PM by kstewart33
A new ABC-Washington Post poll, just out. And more bad numbers for the Bushies. This should give the Dems something to cheer about.

1. BTW, Bush's approval rating of 54 percent
really means 49 percent because the ABC-Wash. Post polls are always about 5 points higher.

2. I'm actually shocked the number who favor a special counsel
is that high. Obviously, the RW talking point that this is politically motivated is falling on deaf ears. No wonder the Dems are backing away from pushing this. They don't have to because it's already taking on a life of its own. The genie is out of the bottle!

7. Exactly, the common folks understand the words "criminal offense"
and fully appreciate that the deck is never stacked in their favor so they aren't about to favor that for the pampered ones in the WH.

3. Yes on special prosecuter
It serves them right. Hope we get someone as nasty as Ken Starr. That would be poetic.

4. Yes, it would
Of course, it might backfire on us. I would prefer someone who's respected by both parties.

5. Wow! My summary of the poll:
My summary: A large majority, cutting across party lines, thinks it is a serious matter (83% of the 68% who have heard of the Affair), that a special prosecutor should be appointed (69%), that someone in the White House is likely responsible (72%), and that those responsible for the leak should be both fired (91%) and criminally charged (82%).

6. 83% consider this a serious matter
that's the good news.

Why all of the sudden did Wilson become "a prominent Bush critic" rather than a former ambassador who explained to the press that Bush flat-out lied in his 2003 SOTU? I've been seeing this label come up more and more frequently in numerous articles about this scandal and it's really jarring.

13. Serious Leak Needs Serious Look
Poll: Disclosure of CIA Info Considered Serious,
Special Counsel Warranted

"Eight in 10 Americans say the alleged White House leak of a CIA operative's identity is a serious matter, and nearly seven in 10 say it should be investigated by a special counsel, not by the administration's own Justice Department."

14. Remember the old line "This is not about the sex, it's about the perjury"
What would that translate to now:

"It's not about leaking, it's about high treason."
