Limbaugh's Comments Draw Calls For Dimssal (ESPN BLINKS!)

...The combative Limbaugh did not retreat from his comments yesterday on his syndicated radio talk show. He said that there was "no racist intent whatsoever" and added: "All this has become the tempest that it is because I must have been right about something. If I wasn't right, there wouldn't be the cacophony of outrage that has sprung up in the sportswriter community."

ESPN spent much of yesterday determining how to respond to the controversy over its high-profile commentator, the most listened-to radio commentator in the country. In a statement issued late yesterday, ESPN offered little support.

"Although Mr. Limbaugh today stated that his comments had 'no racist intent whatsoever,' we have communicated to Mr. Limbaugh that his comments were insensitive and inappropriate," the statement said. It added that throughout his career "he has been consistent in his criticism of the media's coverage of myriad issues." Limbaugh is expected to appear on Sunday's show...

2. The NFL REALLY Needs to Step up to the Plate, so to speak
It's their (perceived) policies that Rush took aim at, they can't leave ESPN and McNabb dangling.

6. Excellent Point
The ultimate control on NFL broadcsts is with the league itself. And no sport is more image conscious than the NFL. ESPN gambled that they could bring in those lucrative Angry Fat White Guys who go for the penis implants, hair replacements and strip clubs that have replaced the dot coms for quick broadcast revenue. It works as long as Rush didn't shoot off his trap...and I get a feeling the NFL wasn't happy with his selection, but didn't put up a fight.

Here in Chicago, the McNabb comments were all over the local black talk station (WVON) today and most people never had heard of Rush, but they did watch ESPN...or should I say did.

The policies are ones the NFL would be left best unsaid (remember it still took at least 5 years for a black coach after the Jimmy The Greek stuff)...like drugs, and having Rush around isn't a good thing. My bets are ESPN makes him a "contributing correspondent"...bits on tape (ala Jimmy Kimmel) and keep him off the live set. If that doesn't die down the noise, then they can phase him out.

Oh, one more coporate involved here...ESPN's owner, Disney. Any word from Mouseland???

3. ESPN.................
should be ashamed of itself for putting this horrible excuse for a man on the show in the first place. They've said that their ratings have increased by 10% since Limpballs has been on the show. Again, it's all about money. No matter that this throwback to a darker time in man's evolution will embarrass, alienate and infuriate a large portion of decent human beings, it's all about the money, right ESPN? You knew this would happen, it always does with his ilk. Now Limpballs will claim that HE'S the victim here. His ratings will go up with his legion of dittoheads and ESPN's will rise because of the controversy. Fucking whores all.

4. Exactly...
... the idea that "I'm right or there wouldn't be all this outrage" is patently ludicrous.

Black is white, good is bad, outrage means I'm right... what f*cking alternate universe do these troglodytes live in?

8. This is outrageous
At the very least they should have told Limbaugh that his comments were "inappropriate" and forced him to apologize on the air. At the most they should have let him go.

He put a block on Bellsouth and all news articles about this, in the Washington Post, New York Times, and Cnn cause my computer to freeze. I can get other stories so that SOB or his handlers put a blocking bug!
