Women Say Schwarzenegger Groped, Humiliated Them
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 11:16 PM by Newsjock
Edit for link, title and story
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/recall/la-me-women2oct02,1,2313555.story?coll=la-home-headlines

By Gary Cohn, Carla Hall and Robert W. Welkos, Times Staff Writers

Six women who came into contact with Arnold Schwarzenegger on movie sets, in studio offices and in other settings over the last three decades say he touched them in a sexual manner without their consent.

In interviews with The Times, three of the women described their surprise and discomfort when Schwarzenegger grabbed their breasts. A fourth said he reached under her skirt and grabbed her buttocks.

A fifth woman said Schwarzenegger groped her and tried to remove her bathing suit in a hotel elevator. A sixth said Schwarzenegger pulled her onto his lap and asked whether a certain sexual act had ever been performed on her.

According to the women's accounts, one of the incidents occurred in the 1970s, two in the 1980s, two in the 1990s and one in 2000.

"Did he rape me? No," said one woman, who described a 1980 encounter in which she said Schwarzenegger grabbed her breast. "Did he humiliate me? You bet he did."

17. I just read the whole article
It seems credible to me. I'm against using a person's past sexual relationships against them in any way, but this is totally different. One said, "When Maria was around he was a gentleman, when she wasn't around he's the opposite". If he is elected then his female staff members had better watch out. And wear pants.

33. Another way to look at it
If he can flip the "gentleman" switch on and off on cue, can he do the same with the "honest governor" switch?

Seriously. This sounds like a hardwired personality trait - the ability to fool some of the people some of the time, coupled with the arrogance and self-entitlement that comes from believing (and knowing?) that one's actions, no matter how reprehensible, will not carry consequences.

Pretty big issue, I think.

The elite people behind Bush have not reached the top by accident. Arnold is only a chess piece to help them win in 2004.

The advisors are
at least 1 move ahead of what we hear in the national news. This chess match is about control of the worlds wealth and we get to watch it!

Oh yeah, if the people of the world lose us citizens in industrial nations are to become slaves, much like some common citizens are in 3rd world countries. We will be starved for lifes necassary components for generations until we rebel.

It already doesn't matter that Arnold is pro-choice and pro-gun control. We've known that Arnold is a masher for how long now? And this is the FIRST real publicity it's gotten? And how much FREE publicity does he get on all the networks and cable channels who fall all over themselves fawning over him -- INCLUDING female "reporters?" We've always known the Republicans have double-standards and it has been proved time and again that the media certainly does.

I'm not ready to give him the election yet, despite the recent polls, but I agree that this story will fizzle exactly as all the * stories have fizzled.

23. Hate to tell ya...
But at least from where I'm sitting in Southern California, Ahnold's going to get the votes. People are just going absolutely gaga over his lame ass. Southern Californians... you gotta love 'em, but GAWD so many of them are as dumb as a box of rocks. All they care about is the label.

The interesting thing about these groping stories - a 'So Graham Norton' (BBC) interview with Linda Hamilton (from a while back) described a scenario where, on the set of Terminator 2, her twin sister was accosted by Schwarzenegger. Hamilton's twin was bent over tying her shoes or something, and he walked up behind her, grabbed her hips and imitated having sex with her. She looked up and said, "You must think I'm Linda". All of this straight from his co-star. Unfortunately there's not a transcript to be found online, but I'm sure one could be procured through the BBC.

What a pig. If he gets elected, it's just what this state deserves.

36. Schwarzenegger-Clinton parallel
Posted on Wed, Sep. 17, 2003
Schwarzenegger-Clinton parallel
By Kathleen Parker

On Sunday, a women's peace group that calls itself CodePink, a pink-painted pinkie poke at the Bush administration's color-coded terror alert system, protested outside the California Republican Party's Fall Convention. The protesters brought signs reading ``Groper for Governor'' and ``Sexual Misconduct is not a Family Value.''

These terms have a vaguely familiar ring. But these aren't Republican women clamoring to condemn an aggressive intern handler. These are feminists, those same staunch defenders of women's delicate sensibilities who averted their eyes when Bill Clinton was groping and sexually misconduct-ing in the little room off the Oval Office.

<snip>

Schwarzenegger does have a reputation at least as titillating as Clinton once had, based not on made-up media reports but on the claims of real women from his past. Yet the same crowd that rallied for Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers, Juanita Broaddrick and others can't find anything believable among the women who claim that Schwarzenegger groped them.

The phenomenon of principles selectively applied is nothing new, but women's groups both left and right have surrendered any moral high ground they might have once claimed. They're just one of the boys now. What woman wants, she may alas deserve.

If a few lawsuits against Arnold start flying, and he is exposed as a sexist and racist, it will be much easier to get him recalled.

There is no way Democrats can allow Arnold to steal the state without recalling him.

32. From the article:
"I was walking on the set and Arnold called out, 'Come here, you sexy devil,' and reached out and pulled me on to his lap," the woman recalled.

She said he then whispered in her ear: "Have you ever had a man slide his tongue in your (anus)?"

"I didn't know how to react," the woman said. "It was bizarre. What he said was so specifically sexual, it was bizarre.

"I remember looking around and seeing this bank of smiling faces and feeling alone," she continued. The men standing at Schwarzenegger's side, she said, "were in total support mode — of him, not me. It was kind of like everything he did was OK, and isn't it funny and isn't it swell? It was like they were proud of him .... Nobody said, 'What are you doing? Leave her alone.'

35. Typical GOP smear tactic now being used by a desperate Gray Davis
If there was any credence to these charges, we would have known about them long ago. As many people expected, Gray Davis has reached into his bag of dirty tricks in order to save his sorry ass. If this man had any decency left, he should have resigned long ago and let Bustamante become Governor. There is still time for Davis to do this. His resignation would not stop the recall election, but it will show that the only choices are between Cruz and the people behind Arnold, people like Pete Wilson and David Dreier. As it is, Davis's unpopularity is bringing Bustamante down with him.

What's more important, save Davis' sorry ass or keep the governorship? The two are becoming increasingly mutually exclusive.

For the sake of all (and I am including our aspirations for Election 2004), Davis should throw in the towel now and endorse Cruz Bustamante for Governor. This is conceding the first question on the ballot, a question that Davis will lose irrespective of what happens to Arnold (the voters are in a Anyone But Davis mood), and will focus our efforts in electing Bustamante against the Arnold/Davis/Dreier cabal.

39. and it will prove that Nader was right
when he said there was little difference between the two major parties. I actually think Nader was wrong in his oversimplification, he should have been more specific, on some issues Democrats and Republicans are two wings of the same bird of prey. On other issues, the two parties are apart, all thanks to the liberal wing of the Democratic party. No Democratic President would have invaded Iraq without some sort of international sanction, and some credible evidence that Iraq posed a real threat to our security.

We have heard of these charges many times and I believe Davis when he said he and his people had nothing to do with it though it wouldn't matter to me if he did. These women seem to have come foward just as Anita Hill did and their charges should be considered seriously. Arnold has been called a masher and I'd like him to either say, yes, I did it, or, no, these women are liars - whining about partisanship instead of accepting responsibility is not acceptable. I don't want to hear about Davis or the tooth fairy or anyone else. Did he do it or not?

Schwarzenegger Acknowledges 'Offensive' Behavior
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

AN DIEGO (AP) -- Gubernatorial front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger acknowledged that he has "behaved badly" to women and offered an apology Thursday.

Schwarzenegger's remarks, as he kicked off a four-day bus tour of the state in the final days of the recall campaign, came after a Los Angeles Times story published Thursday in which six women accused him of sexually harassing and groping them.

"When I am governor I want to prove to the women that I will be a champion for the women, a champion of the women," Schwarzenegger said at a rally in San Diego. "Now let's go from the dirty politics to the future of California."

The crowd of Schwarzenegger supporters interrupted him with cheers.

Schwarzenegger said: "Yes, it is true that I was on rowdy movie sets and I have done things that were not right which I thought then was playful but now I recognize that I offended people."

57. The LA Times found the women --
the women didn't find the reporter.

"The Times did not learn of any of the six women from Schwarzenegger's rivals in the recall race. And none of the women approached the newspaper on her own. Reporters contacted them in the course of a seven-week examination of Schwarzenegger's behavior toward women on and off the movie set."

The distinction is important. The reporter is simply rummaging around Arnie's life and look what pops up. The wide time span of these incidents reveals that his sexism can not be dismissed as youthful indiscretion or pre-sexual harassment ignorance -- this man is a serious pig. His suggestion that his terminator character shove his female counterpart's head in a toilet to his taunt to do the same to Arianna in the debate reveal a creep of the first order.

Califorians: WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ASSHOLE!
