Bush adviser Hughes says leak disrupts democracy

AUSTIN -- Karen Hughes, one of President Bush's longest-serving and closest advisers, said Wednesday that the public disclosure of a CIA operative's name was a disservice to the president and "very disruptive to democracy."

Hughes said she was confident that her fellow Texan and sometime rival, Karl Rove, the president's chief political adviser, didn't leak the name to a syndicated columnist because "Karl has said that he was not involved."

snip.........

"President Bush has said -- and I agree -- there are too many leaks in Washington. We didn't experience that kind of situation when we were here in Texas. I think it's very disruptive to democracy," Hughes said.

"Whoever did this leak obviously was not serving President Bush very well," she added.

Because she knows Scooter Libby did it. Rove gave the whole thing the OK (along with Hughes and others in the WHIG group), but he didn't actually make the call.

It's really rich that a water carrier for Bush* would say the leak disrupts democracy. These fuckers wouldn't know democracy if it bit them in their rosy red asses. Not only that, but they're spinning as if the issue is the "leak" rather than about the fact that the traitor(s) broke federal law and put an agent and her sources in danger.

These people make me ill.

or making the mistake of picking on a guy that stood up to him didn't serve Bush well.

If they got away with it, it would have exactly served Bush just the way Rove intended it to.

10. Karen thinks Karl did it
Karen and Karl don't get along very well and I'm sure she won't be too disappointed if he takes the hit. I'm reading more in between the lines.

"Whoever did this leak obviously was not serving President Bush very well," she added.
(/snip)
Get the hint Karl, stand aside for the good of the bu$h presidency is what I think she is saying.

Of course she has to say she doesn't think the little bastard did it.
(snip)
"Karl has said that he was not involved."
(/snip)

Yeah the whole "disruptive to democracy" whine coming from one of the 2000 coup leaders is not very believable. Sure the bushies believe in democracy, if they control it.

That is one of the sickest, most demented statements I have yet to hear.

24. Notice that this is the sentiment over and over?
"Serving Bush well" - Every statement is firmly entrenched with this attitude. Whatever happened to serving our COUNTRY? With serving the PEOPLE?

If you look even casually at their statements - on any matter - you would think that they are serving a monarchy. I expect any day now that * will decline to be addressed as "Mr. President" and will instead demand to be addressed as "America."

31. I think you're seeing another coordinated talking point at work.
I've noticed NUMEROUS bush apologists and other assorted repukes very deftly commenting about how this has "dragged the president into..." or "doesn't serve the president very well" or some such wording, to put bush in the PASSIVE MODE rather than active. This is a subtle technique for planting the impression that bush was separate from this and it's being done TO him, not BY him or with his knowledge or authorization.

If the repukes learned anything from Watergate (and I'm betting they did), it's to build up better and stronger plausible deniability. Note also, she says things to suggest that KKKarl says he didn't do it and to lend the impression that it was somebody else. Another post her caught that inference, too - that suggests if KKKarl didn't do it PERSONALLY, he engineered it for others to do, so he could CLAIM he didn't do it.

Even so, it still has his fingerprints all over it. It's the kind of mean-spirited, shitty thing he's known for, and has been known for, for a LONG time, and he HAS, in the past, used Robert Novak as his tidbit drop. There's a pattern here that's just a little too obvious. Sorry Karen. Try again.

19. This is getting interesting!
I just heard Larry Johnson (I believe that's his name) say it was Scooter Libbey. He was the former CIA operative who was on PBS loudly putting down this administration for its outing of Plame. This was another appearance on Press & Buchanan on MSNBC.

Looks like the fall guy or guys will be Cheney and Libbey. Since it has been said on here that Cheney will go down and be taken off the ticket, this seems mighty convenient. I'm a tad suspicious. I'd rather it was Rove. Don't understand, unless it was both Rove and Libbey, since Wilson has outed Rove.

35. Why does the media start pointing at administration officials?
Bush is the President. I don't care whether it was Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice, or whoever- Bush is the President, and he's accountable for the actions taken by his administration.

Isn't it strange that Bush, like Reagan, is just assumed to be an incompetent boob with no real involvement in anything? Allowing staff to commit crimes... hiring traitorous criminals to do this sort of vindictive work... that's just as bad as doing it yourself.

37. DICK CHENEY Is The Leak **BREAKING NEWS**
Regarding the Wilson intelligence scandal:

We need to realize that EVERYTHING Bush, Novak, and McClellan are SAYING is absolutely true. But everything they're TELLING US is a lie. We have to remember to listen carefully to the exact words.

Novak originally said that the information about Wilson's wife came from, "two senior administration officials." THIS IS TRUE.

Novak also says that, "Nobody in the Bush administration called me to leak this." THIS IS ALSO TRUE.

There is ONE MAN in the world who is BOTH a senior administration official, and does not release information from the administration (from the White House).

There is ONE MAN in the world who invested his reputation and resources to the Niger yellowcake story, more than any other.

There was ONE MAN in the world who knew of Wilson's trip to Niger as well as he knew about the identity of Wilson's wife.

THE MAN'S NAME IS **DICK CHENEY**.

The yellowcake story was Cheney's baby.

Joseph Wilson killed Dick Cheney's baby.

So, when Scott McClellan talks about how "ridiculous" it is that the leak could have come out of Karl Rove, it's because he knows this statement to be true. Rove IS NOT the one who ORIGINALLY released this information. There is no way this could have been the case because there's really no scenario that would explain how Rove could legitimately be in possession of this information. But Rove is a part of the conspiracy, all the same.

The plan was for Cheney & Novak to make the info about Wilson's wife "common knowledge around Washington." That was the first wave of the attack. The second wave was initiated when Cheney told Rove that he (Cheney or his office) had put Wilson's wife's identity in print, and that she, and her identity, were now, "FAIR GAME." The rest was left to Rove. Rove, or people working with Rove, then made the FAIR GAME phone calls to the media, knowing that Cheney & Novak had laid the groundwork to cover their asses (legally) by making the secret information, "common knowledge around Washington."

The White House is trying to convince us that the Novak disclosure and the "FAIR GAME" phone calls were taking place as one continuous event, but they were not. The Novak crimes (disclosures) were designed to set up the FAIR GAME phone calls from Rove. This was a two-point plan. Novak is working with the White House on this. He is knowingly trying to mislead any would-be investigations and may eventually go down for this obvious obstruction (at least).

Scott McClellan completed the second wave on Wednesday. When asked to make a distinction between disclosing the identity of a covert CIA operative and discussing it after it is published, McClellan said, ""That is such a broad question, about is it OK to discuss news articles," he said. "I mean, news articles are discussed all the time."

So, is there one top-level White House official whose email, phone records, etc. ARE NOT being protected by orders of the Justice Department? Is their one top-level White House official who does not work in the White House and whose staff is not under evidence protection orders or legal scrutiny? Is Cheney watching and laughing?

Cheney is the only top level White House official who DID NOT go before cameras this week to talk about everything he doesn't know. Dick Cheney won't be seen any time soon.

When they (McClellan & co.) say, "White House," they're actually saying, "THE PLACE WHERE CHENEY IS NOT." Notice how often they use the terminology "White House." And when Novak uses the word "identity," in talking about Valerie Plame, he's not talking about her job at the CIA, he's talking about her "identity" as Wilson's wife. It's a word game. The words are true; the message is a lie.

LISTEN TO THE WORDS THEY USE.

All of the information above is classified...For now.
