Sen. Bond Disciplines Aide Over Web Site
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 10:27 a.m. ET

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Missouri Republican Sen. Kit Bond disciplined an aide after learning he had been running a political Web site named for the tail number of a plane that crashed in 2000, killing the Democratic Missouri governor.

The title of the site -- N8354N -- ``is not random,'' a note on the Web site read. ``It marks an inflection point in current Missouri politics. On that day, the worm began to turn.''

Gov. Mel Carnahan was running for Senate when his plane crashed Oct. 16, 2000. He was elected posthumously and Carnahan's widow, Jean, was appointed to take his place in the Senate. But Republican Jim Talent won the seat from her last year in a special election to finish out her husband's term.

Missouri Democrats found the Web site and made the connection to Sen. Bond's office on Wednesday.

1. Just when you think the Repukes can't be any more
hate-filled and sick. Then, ya gotta see stuff like this...

2. Probably another Bush-is-the-Son-of-God fanatic
These psycho-zealots think that God gave us dangling chads so that Bush would be resurrected.

3. Bond is a "family values" Republican
who dumped his wife for a younger model. Fuck him. He was a shitty governor and is a scumbag senator. I hate this state--and I apologize to the country for John Asscracked, too.

John Danforth was almost tolerable until he cast his lot with 'Pubic Hair on the Coke Can' Clarence "Uncle" Thomas. I'm guessing Danforth was a porn afficiando as well.

4. Bond and his entire office are
the absolutely worst bunch of representatives I have ever had - they disgust me in so many ways on so many levels.

I have lived all over the country and I have never felt so unrepresentated as I do now.

I loathe these people - discpline should equal discharged from the government's payrolls - I do not want a penny of my or anyone else's money paying these cave dwellers.

5. Spare me your moral outrage...
People right here on these forums say things like this about Republicans all the time.

6. Perhaps it's not the same people
It's not like we are one mass who acts and thinks the same, just because we post on this board.

People have a right to be morally outraged by this. If this was a Democratic site saying this kind of stuff about Republicans, they would catch flack here too.

But it is enough of a "presence" here that if anything, rather than posts of moral superiority in respose to this issue, perhaps more fitting would be some collective personal reflection. And I say this for myself as well. To think to ourselves, "hmm.. I'm not speaking of my opponents down at this level am I? Do I actually hate my opponents so much that I would have the same kind of attitudes that prompted this guy to do this? Do I act more like a statesman or more like an emibttered, mean-spirited republican hater?"

It's a question I'll be thinking about today...

7. Really?
Care to cite some examples?

Freepers celebrate plane crashes that kill Democrats.

When I heard Strom Thurmond died, I thought he was already dead years ago. He was like Bernie (Weekend At Bernies).

8. Please show some examples
Provide some direct cites to threads where people in DU have been dancing on the graves of others.

I somehow doubt you'll find any.

10. We name websites after dead people's planes? Basically a plane
accident that lead us into positions of power is touted as a good political ploy? Names are called here of Democrats and repukes that I think are inappropriate but this is cruel and disgusting.

12. Had Senator Kit Bond had your perspective
he could have kept his aide, evidently.

In his confusion, he seems to have fired his @$$:

(snip) ``The actions of a member of my staff in using official computers to make hurtful personal attacks on public servants were totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated,'' Bond said in the statement. ``I had no knowledge of this until last night. I offer my sincere apologies, and those of my staff, to all those offended by these messages.

``There will be no place in my office, or in my campaign, for this type of attack. The person responsible will no longer be a member of my staff,'' Bond said. (snip/)

By the way, I've NEVER seen a Democrat rejoicing in the violent death of a Republican.

13. Watch that future tense
Does "will no longer be a member of my staff" mean "as of now" or "when he, she or it retires 20 years from now"?

What exactly does that mean? If he had done this using his personal computer he would have been off the hook?

Here was one of the links: http://www.interestingprojects.com/cruisemissile/. Hey, home-made cruise missle. Sure, only to illustrate the need for defense -- sure. What do you want to bet that they think that cruise missles are protected by the 2nd Amendment?

19. Maybe it was a joke?
You know what kidders those pukes are. Like Rummy telling the Belgian ambassador he would throw him jail (ha ha!), or the columnist saying that Chelsea Clinton should be killed (stop it!). Obviously Dems don't have a sense of humor, since we can't seem to detect the humor in jailing and killing people.
