Warren County Baby Born Drunk
Police in Glens Falls say its a case like they've never seen before. An expectant mother was rushed to Glens Falls Hospital on Saturday to deliver a baby. However, when the baby was born, it had a blood alcohol content of .18. That's over twice the legal limit for an adult. 22-year old Stacey Gilligan was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and sent to jail. No word on the condition of the baby.

2. I have adopted a child with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
It's a horrific thing to see your child brain damaged due to someone's ignorance or negligence. I hope this child is okay and this story gets plenty of attention. There needs to be a lot more attention paid to pregnancy and alcohol!

3. What a stupid, sensational headline!
(Not you, Demdave. The original source.) While I guess you could say it was technically accurate, there must be many other better ways to describe the situation, but I guess they wouldn't be flashy enough for wrgb.

6. The headline is legally accurate for the state of New York

if you're caught driving. The correct charge is public intoxication, plus creating a disturbance if it cried. But as a first offender and a juvenile, the baby will probably just get probation--assuming, of course, that it's white or rich!

4. Thank Jesus it wasn't aborted, though.
That would be irresponsible.

5. I'm pro-choice and I get what you are saying, but
I don't like to judge the value of that child's life once it's here. I work with children, many of whom were exposed to drugs and alcohol in the womb. There are all degrees of impairment, and some have very little. Even those with serious impairments can have quality lives. I've learned more about unconditional love from an 8 year old mute child that I work with than I would ever have learned if I'd never met her.
