Kuwait says it seized smuggled Iraq artefacts (not WMD's)
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 05:25 PM by pbl
KUWAIT, Oct. 2 — Kuwaiti authorities have seized archaeological artefacts and ''other items'' smuggled from Iraq into Kuwait, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah said in remarks published on Thursday.

''Kuwaiti security forces were able to seize some Iraqi artefacts smuggled to Kuwait,'' al-Sabah, who is also interior minister, was quoted as saying by al-Seyassah daily. He did not identify the other items.
Al-Sabah was responding to a question about a report the paper carried on Wednesday that Kuwaiti security forces had foiled an attempt to smuggle artefacts, chemical materials and biological warheads from Iraq to a European country via Kuwait.
Kuwaiti security sources told Reuters on Wednesday the report on the seizure of such weapons was baseless.

I guess this is our answer as to why the story about $60 million dollars worth of chemical and biological warheads was never picked up by mainstream media. The other story can be found here:

A little while ago maybe a few weeks ago I saw a story only on Faux news about the former Iraqi information minister "Baghdad Bob". He had supposedly given an interview and in it he had stated that Iraq had imported chemical/biological weapons in controvention of UN resolutions almost up until the day the war started. They broke into programming to announce it (news alert) Rita Crosby was the one talking about it and she was practically having an orgasm as she was speaking about this alleged interview lol. She was so into it, the thing is I didn't hear anything about it on any other news channel/website and I haven't heard anything else since. Why don't people investigate these bogus stories? pure fabrication.

3. You should've heard Glenn Beck a few days ago...
...he's really been on a "liberal media" jag lately. He starts his show by acting as if he's going through the newspaper, and there's all the Rush and Arnold stuff...as if he's looking for something. Finally he gets to the punchline...Kuwait has intercepted weapons from Iraq and the mean ol' liberal media isn't reporting it!

Jeez-o-peet, Glenn. Look at the friggin' source! I mentioned it briefly on my radio show with the caveat that it's a report from the Kuwaiti news agency...the same folks who brought us the "babies being pulled from incubators" story back in 1990. I treat stories from the Washington Times the same way.
