Prominent Democrats Throw Support Behind General Clark's Campaign
Arkansas, Texas Democratic Party Chairs Endorse Wesley Clark

Little Rock, AR - Arkansas Democratic Chair Ron Oliver and Vice Chair Karla Bradley and Texas Democratic Chair Molly Beth Malcolm announced their endorsement of General Wesley Clark today.

"General Wesley Clark has the knowledge and experience to make a great President," said Arkansas Democratic Chair Ron Oliver. "He will bring this country new direction. Clark has National Security experience and knows that America's security depends on a strong economy. Once again, the people of Arkansas are proud to offer a candidate to replace a President that has damaged our national economy."

"As the stepmother of a son serving in the 82nd Airborne in Iraq, his commitment to a New American Patriotism has deep meaning for me," said Texas Democratic Chair Molly Beth Malcolm. "In a time of war and uncertainty, America needs a leader who truly understands the consequences of sending our sons and daughters overseas to fight in a hostile land. We need a leader that understands that we must win the peace as well as the war. We need a leader who respects our allies and is unafraid to work with world leaders. We'll get that kind of leader with Wes Clark."

Oliver, Bradley and Malcolm are in Washington, DC, attending a meeting of the Democratic National Committee.

2. If you really care about getting back to good relations with your former
friends, you can't do better than Clark, in my opinion...One of the first things I saw him say on TV when he was starting to express his opinion of the Bush government, was that he was appalled by the way Bush had insulted old friends...(like my country, Canada, France, Germany and others)....I have mentioned this several times before in this forum because it is worrisome to me that the longstanding friendship between our two countries is now rather strained....It effects trade and many other things....Besides that Clark is a very intelligent (Rhodes Scholar) and worldly person....

4. not sure if the endorsement of the Texas chair is going to help
she's stepping down soon as chair of the Texas party, but all in all, it looks like Clark is solidifying his support with the moderates in the party.

I'm pretty pleased with the endorsements

7. He got a lot of applause at the DNC meeting today.
It sounded like they were most enthusiastic about him, although I thought Kerry did the best of them all.

6. Superdelegates!
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 01:57 AM by DoveTurnedHawk
It quite frankly thrills me that the addition of superdelegates to General Clark's totals will cause the people opposed to General Clark here to EAT their hats in frustration, I suspect.
