P-I removes 'for sale' sign after court victory
By DAN RICHMAN
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer has been taken off the market because of its owner's victory last week in a lawsuit against The Seattle Times Co.
In a staff meeting yesterday afternoon, P-I Publisher Roger Oglesby told staff members that The Hearst Corp., which owns the newspaper, had contacted New York-based investment bank Veronis Suhler Stevenson and "told them not to put any more effort into locating potential buyers at this time."
Referring to the King County Superior Court judge who read his decision in the case Sept. 25, Oglesby added, "Now that Judge (Greg) Canova has ruled in favor of the P-I, it's not necessary to pursue that course anymore."
