Young Republicans get to see their hero (Then They Go Protest Dean)
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 08:09 AM by khephra
MILWAUKEE -- As the bus carrying the College Republicans rolled east, Alyssa Frederick made a confession about the man she was about to see in person: George W. Bush is no dreamboat.

But there's more to a man than looks, she explained. Sexy professorial swagger is out. Self-confidence and earnestness are in.

"I don't find George Bush to be attractive, actually. Is that blasphemous?" asked Frederick, a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from Green Lake. "He's so well-educated, but his speaking isn't difficult to follow. He's speaking to the masses."

That's life seen through the eyes of a College Republican in the post-Clinton years, when restoring honor and dignity to the Oval Office makes young hearts pound with pride. And before the day was over, the man from Midland, loathed by Deanie-boppers and Greenie-boppers around Madison, would get a big embrace from campus conservatives.

snip......

"All in favor of, 'Dean is a Ween, Don't Bring it to My Bush'?"

No applause.

"Dean Can't Measure Up, Four More Years"?

Mild applause.

"Dean's a Queen, Vote Bush"?

more..........

3. They sure lack when it comes to slogan writing
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 08:16 AM by khephra
That's for sure. I think they need to look up the definition of the word "rhyme". They manage to make the first part work, but that darn "Bush" keeps on giving them troubles.

12. You right it is a winner. And it is well timed
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 09:42 AM by Prodemsouth
they know how to appeal to the idiots and the moron american vote. Guess what, it is a winner because it will work . It is well timed because you are about to see a anti effi-man backlash. Always happens, remember Boy George and the androgynous junk, serious anti-gay backlash in 86-onward. This is why I don't understand why so many here defend this Queer Eye program.

"This is why I don't understand why so many here defend this Queer Eye program."

13. Actually, many of them
do think that and if they won't go that far, they will say that God put him in charge. This marriage of religion and political leaders truly frightens me. As we've seen through the example set by the Taliban, theocratic rule is extremely dangerous, especially for women.

We NEED to get these people out in 2004!

Interesting choice of wording. You can only blaspheme against God. You can say anything you want against the Anti-Christ, though, so I think poor deluded Miss Frederick is okay.

11. They idolized another moral idiot - Reagan.
Of course, Ron was so moral and wanted so desperately to help the poor Latin Americans that he allowed hostage and arms deals with terrorists to be conducted and the cash proceeds sent to support the "freedom fighters" of Nicaragua.
So these young Repukes need to chew on that one a little while.

8. Anybody notice these "students" have to be bused into Madison..
...where 25,000 students already reside-- none of whom could apparently be convinced walk across the quad to support Bush*on their own.

This reporter has had the astroturf pulled over his eyes.

"About two dozen sets of young eyes popped open before dawn Friday, as members of the UW-Madison College Republicans and a few members of the local party boarded a comfortable touring bus to see Bush speak at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee. "

Seems they were bused from Madison ... :puffpiece:

9. Truly scary
"It would be great if you were the smartest guy in the world and a really moral person. But you're not going to have that."

Likes Bush because it's impossible to be smart and moral, intelligence naturally robs you of morality. I assume these guys believe this crap to feel better about their own stupidity.

10. So the bestthey can do is name call, no issues to debate

"Dean's a Queen, Vote Bush"?

A nice term with homosexual implications.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a few Bush slogns maybe they could use:

Bush started an illegal war, he is a Halliburton whore.

Bush needs to be douched.

Transplant Bush to Crawford.

18. They should join the military
The Young Republicans can best show their support for Bush by joining the military. This way they can help Iraq become a "free" country.

21. The pubs sent a memo and Dean responded

http://www.thewheelerreport.com/releases/Oct03/Oct3/1003deandanegop.PDF

and Dean's response:

Wisconsin for Dean Responds to Republican Plans To Protest Dean Visit Tomorrow
MADISON--Wisconsin for Dean State Coordinator Michael J. Tate issued the following statement today regarding plans by the state Republican party to protest Governor Dean's visit to Wisconsin tomorrow:

"We thank our Republican friends for joining our canned food drive and acknowledging the plight that the Bush economy has visited upon Wisconsin's working families.

"Since our working families couldn't afford to feed themselves at President Bush's $2,000-a-plate lunch in Milwaukee, it's worth noting that Republicans had to come to a Howard Dean event in order to help them.

"What is more repugnant than the Republicans' admission of economic failure is a contest they held awarding prizes for the 'best' poster attacking Governor Dean. The winning slogan reportedly reads 'Dean's a queen.'

It's sad that at a time when Americans are losing jobs at home and our nation its credibility abroad, Republicans spend their time on contests for homophobic slogans.

Governor Dean's campaign is one of grassroots power and inclusion, not one of bigotry and division."
