Theories Abound for Failure to Find WMD
Saddam Hussein may have possessed weapons of mass destruction and hid them, the chief U.S. weapons inspector says. Or the Iraqi dictator may have had the weapons and moved them outside the country just before the war. Or perhaps Saddam never had them at all, and just bluffed to appear strong.

Weapons inspector David Kay cited those three theories - and a few others - on Friday as possible answers to why his survey team has so far failed to uncover any weapons of mass destruction inside Iraq.

Iraqis interviewed by his team have provided information pointing to each of those theories, Kay said.

One, more unusual, theory also has some backing, although it's shakier: that Saddam's scientists were fooling Saddam himself - and were simply too afraid to tell him he didn't possess any weapons, he said.

1. Here's another theory that explains why the Bushco are in a tizzy
Saddam's weapons were destroyed under Clinton. Just before the US illegal and immoral invasion, the coalition operatives inside Iraq planted some WMDs. The Iraqi agents helping them do this were double agents who turned the planted WMDs over to Saddam who really did hide them or sold them or gave them to al-qaeda operatives. We know they had them becuase we planted them now we are in a hissy-fit because we don't know what the hell happened to them. We were either double crossed-by our coalition agents (UK/I/Iraqi/Kurds) or Saddam outsmarted us. Why else would we still be insisting that the WMD lie is the truth and spending all that money to try to recover those weapons? "We own Iraq" so what's the deal?

2. Amazing, isn't it...
that one vial found in a refrigerator has now morphed into vials according to Powell:

Powell, in citing the discovery of the vial of bacteria and signs of long-range missile plans, said he is "more convinced by the Kay report that we did the right thing."

"Do you think vials of botulism should constitute a weapon of mass destruction?" Powell asked reporters. " ... They never lost that capability. They never lost that intent."

Geez, they don't even bother to pretend anymore, this is sooo disgusting!

9. Since that bacteria has been in that man's refrigerator since 1993,
don't you agree it's kind of a stretch? hehe

3. Finding absolutely nothing is surprising...
I would have expected there would have been some barrels of nasty stuff sitting around somewhere--if only because some junior official thought it would be easier to hide it than to actually destroy it.

Stalinist regimes aren't really all that efficient. They just look that way.

4. What's become of Scott Ritter?
I woke up thinking about that man this morning wondering why we don't hear his voice anymore post Iraq invasion. If anything, he should be out front saying, "I told you so."

Moreover, couldn't he help elucidate more clearly just WHY the WMDs have not been found and WHY he meant what he said when he said it? It just seems to me that he could be on the stage making a strong accusatory case against Bushco now.

5. Gitmo maybe?
I hate to think it but when any outspoken voice goes missing in these times I begin to consider some scary possiblities.

12. There weren't any--it was just an excuse to invade
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 10:45 AM by rocknation
I couldn't figure out why Georgie was so hot to trot about invading while the inspections were still going on (and were obviously working). He couldn't let the inspectors finish the job because if nothing was found, he'd have no reason to invade. And without an invasion, there's no oil and no Mideast military foothold for the Bush Regime.

On the other hand, I've come across a couple of stories that CIA agents were on a mission to plant the weapons when they were killed by friendly fire!

14. The Bushies said there were weapons, not theories.
All Kay is finding is theories. The trouble with theories is that they are completely meaningless without evidence.

So the Bushies are floating theories....

That's so damned precious I could puke. These bastards found nothing in the real world, so they are trying to excuse themselves in the airy world of theory. Call it the Bushie dream world. That's what they live in, and they keep trying to drag everyone else into it.

Trouble is, the lives that they cost are real. The $160 billion they are spending is real. Only their motivations are "theoretical." Wonderful, brilliant, lucid theories from hipsters like Rumsfeld and the truss-bait Wolfowitz.

Bush is an asshole.
