SEBASTIANI JOINS PUSH TO RESTRICT TEEN ABORTIONS
Measure would require girls under 18 to wait 48 hours, notify parents

By Kerry Benefield, The Press Democrat

A teenager under 18 can walk into a medical office or family planning clinic in California and get an abortion without her parents ever knowing.

That is wrong, says Don Sebastiani, a former assemblyman and the conservative patriarch of the Sonoma winemaking family.

He believes that so strongly that he has contributed $150,000 to qualifying a ballot initiative that would require parental notification - the most successful campaign to tighten restrictions on abortions in California in almost a decade.

His active role comes from one of the most liberal areas of California, where a woman's right to choose is a cornerstone of decades of local political belief and advocacy.

3. Sebastiani.... but that's cool.
I only use their stuff for marinades... I'll switch to 2 Buck Chuck (although it is a much superior wine, and CHEAPER).

His family will disown him for these remarks is my guess.

4. Cheap ploy to get fundamentalists out for the special election . . .
all the more reason for progressive Californians to work harder to keep the election from being held. . .

6. As an attorney who represents children . . .
.
As an attorney who represents children . . . including female pregnant teenagers, I find it unconscionable that ignoramuses who have money attempt to change laws that they have no understanding about. Or who base their kneejerk beliefs upon their own so-called "moralities" or worse, their own religion pushed upon others.

Although, there are many States across America who have some sort of "parental notification or consent" laws, each of these States who do, must also have a legal procedure wherein the pregnant-under-18-year-old may seek an order of a court-of-law to bypass such "parental notification or consent." Despite the constitutional court bypass, these laws still chill a pregnant teenager from an abortion unnecessarily. It's another roadblock to Roe v. Wade. And a damn stupid and ill-informed roadblock too.

notice where the teenaged pregnancies occur!!

7. That isn't teenage pregnancies but teenage mothers
which is a bit of a difference. I think some of the higher red states would argue that since abortions are lower there the number of pregnancies is around the same.
