Former N.M. Gov. speaks out on Deep Throat

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Former New Mexico Gov. David Cargo is breaking his silence on the Deep Throat mystery.

Cargo knew W. Mark Felt, the high-ranking FBI official who leaked secret information to two Washington Post journalists.

"I think what he did in the long run was the right thing," said Cargo.

Cargo was with Richard Nixon and White House staff members when Watergate broke.

At the time, an attorney for Nixon called it a "third-rate burglary."

"After being in the District Attorney's office, there ain't no such thing as a third-rate burglary," said Cargo.
