Children 'tortured under Pinochet'

From correspondents in Santiago
June 02, 2005

A commission investigating torture of political prisoners during Augusto Pinochet's military dictatorship delivered a report including the cases of 87 children, some of whom were tortured, President Ricardo Lagos announced today.

"In the list that has been handed to us there are 87 children under the age of 12," Mr Lagos said on receiving the report by the Valech Commission.

Most of the children had been jailed with their parents and some of them reported having been tortured, according to the report. Their identities were to be kept secret for another 50 years.

The commission delivered a preliminary report in November, after the testimony of 28,000 prisoners who said they were tortured. The commission left out 7000 more cases for which it said there was insufficient evidence.

1. We are responsible for this too
We put Pinochet into power after assassinating the democratically elected President Allende. We supported Pinochet while he tortured children and disappeared their parents.

Don't ever forget. I can assure you that the people of Chile will never forget.

down through history, and justifiably so. Our names will stink along with it because of Nixon and Kissinger and the CIA support that brought him to power.

Does anyone remember the stories from last year of the sixteen year old Iraqi boy who was sexually assualted in Abu Ghraib? This is what we have become - giving Pinochet a run for his money.

4. Yes, I remember reports like this.
There have been a few accounts of children being abused in order to get their parents to cooperate.

5. And yet Bush still has the gall to mention Saddam's rape rooms every
time he gets in front of a microphone.

6. Paul Weyrich
It is interesting to see that Paul Weyrich is both 'Pro-Life' and he is an Apologist for the Pinochet regime.

10. What about Cardinal Angelo Sodano
The Cardinal Secretary of State under Pope John Paul II, who now holds the same office under Pope Benedict. He is also the Dean of the
College of Cardinals

He was appointed as titular archbishop and nuncio of Chile in November of 1977. While serving as nuncio, he began a lasting freindship with the then President of Chile, Augusto Pinochet.

14. Video and photos from Abu Ghraib; US troops torturing, raping kids.
Kids screaming.

Nasty shit. Seriously nasty sick shit.

bushCartel refused to allow many of the torture pics and some video to go public because they're so much worse than what's already in the public.

ACLU filed under the FOIA, court ruled in favor of the ACLU, demanded bushCartel hand over the pics & video.

Of the people who have actually seen the pics & video, US senators and such, some threw up, some left & refused to look at/watch any further...even Rumsfeld admitted the pics & video are sick, disgusting, inhuman.

So when they're made public, it'll be interesting to see Rush & Hannity and Coulter et al spin it as "frat house pranks".

15. Tell me again what a swell guy Nixon was?
You know, stuff like Pinochet keeps oozing out from under the big fat fucking rug that Liddy, Colson, Buchanan and the other Nixon apologist swine would like to put over Nixon's crime-ridden administration while they tell us how bad Felt was for ratting them out.

It sure is confusing!
