U.S. Criticizes Syria After Israeli Raid
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=564&ncid=716&e=15&u=/nm/20031006/ts_nm/mideast_dc

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The United States chastised Syria on Monday for "harboring terrorists," but had no harsh words for Israel's air raid near Damascus that followed a Palestinian suicide bombing of an Israeli restaurant.

"We urge both Israel and Syria to avoid actions that heighten tensions or that could lead to hostilities, but we have repeatedly told Syria that they need to stop harboring terrorists," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

He was commenting on Israel's attack on an alleged training camp for Palestinian militants in Syria on Sunday, a day after the suicide attack in which 19 people were killed in Haifa.

Syrian security men turned reporters away on Monday from the bombed site in a valley between bare hills. A metal bar blocked the dirt access road, from which only a tin-roofed shed and a few trees lining a stream could be seen.

1. So they're rolling the red carpet for Israel to do far worse.
Smart. Real smart.

Yes, Syria's weak, but Syria is well known to have WMD, REAL WMD. Invading's gonna be some "fun".

It looks like the so=called terrorist base in Syria was non-existent. The neocons are just striking at phoney threats. Remember pre-emptive strike is code of striking a phoney threat.

5. Right. And it's Iraq's fault for "faking" that they had WMD
Nothing like homegrown US propaganda bullshit that forces one to start house-buying overseas.

but blah, blah, blah.

9. Particularly since Syria has been very helpful in rounding
up Al Qaeda suspect. This won't stop until we prosecute the leaker and discredit the whole bunch.

11. Shrub Needs Another War
we all know this.

He is giving them the green light to invade Lebanon again, maybe Syria too.
We will be in the war too, but he'll keep that part quiet until it's too late to
get out.

13. Of course Bush wants Israel to attack Syria
I mean, Israel has to have some way to get rid of their stockpiles of weapons that the US government has sold them through various channels so that Israel will be able to buy more, thereby spurring "economic recovery".

It's all about economics. It's always about economics. Nothing more, nothing less.
