Soft and flat? Danger! (Economists and Investors see Danger Ahead)
http://money.cnn.com/2005/06/03/news/economy/yield_slowdown/index.htm?cnn=yes

Not too fast and not too steep would normally be a good path to follow. Unless, of course, you are hiking in today's land of economics. Then that path, to some, looks pretty scary.

First, the slow part ...

Worries about the strength of the economy abound. The latest sign came Friday, when the May job growth was the slowest in two years. But that only followed a week that saw a manufacturing executives suggest the two-year industrial expansion may be running down, and another report showing a big jump in planned layoffs last month.

"Today's disappointing labor report supports the notion that the emerging soft patch in the U.S. economy is here to stay," said Ashraf Laidi, chief currency analyst for MG Financial Group.

3. Well, we have Christopher Cox coming in to help out the big execs
That should help the stock market for a while. All the fraud and corruption will flourish even more wildly than before while the cheerleaders cheer on.

5. That 'splains the SS push, huh
Use it as a bandaid...
It might cover the wound, but it would be hiding an oncoming infection.

6. That is EXACTLY the reason.
Wall St. needs the cash infusion to sustain the ponzi scheme. I guess all the money laundering and drug money washing isn't getting it done anymore.

They will then steal our safety net and the perps, much like our money, will vanish into thin air...and we will pay for the privilage of doing it.

10. What's Even Worse
is that this is happenning with massive fiscal stimulation. Without those $400B deficits, the economy would already be in recession. And Bush's unenviable job is to improve the economy while taking away that stimulus he so generously provided five years ago.
