DU Posting Used In White House Press Conference! (CIA LEAKS)
Original material, first posted here, on DemocraticUnderground.com, by ByeDick, seems to have made it's way to the White House today (10/06/03).

A yet-to-be-named female reporter asked White House Press Secretary, Scott McClelland, about the theory of there being "two waves" to the Wilson CIA leak scandal. One "wave" where the information was leaked, and another "wave" where the White House developed the leak.

Were these questions spurred by ByeDick's ORIGINAL MATERIAL which was exclusively posted on DU last Thursday? The language and theory are exact fits. (See below)

And most recently updated by ByeDick here:

Will continue posting this information as it's developed. See ByeDick postings on DU for more info.

Bye Dick.

2. ufasoft.com has a free version of sockschain
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 01:44 PM by DuctapeFatwa
It will only let you chain 100, unless you buy it, but 100 combined with a few other basic privacy measures should at least make them work for the money ;)

edit to fx typo in ufasoft

7. Scottie Said "Bye"

By memory, Scottie went on a "playing politics" rant and wrapped things up very soon after.

I'll be looking for the transcripts and a CSPAN replay.

Bye Dick.

6. I think. . .
That Joe Wilson himself expressed this theory on Russert's show yesterday. Could be wrong, but that's how I remember it.

8. Russert / Wilson

Hi Eileen,

I would be interested in hearing about what you remember about the Russert thing.

Does the discussion parallel my post from last Thursday?

Bye Dick.

13. Wilson used the two wave argument prior to MTP.
When I heard him say it yesterday, it was not the first time I'd heard it from him. I know this because I was listening to hear what he would say that was new and that was not new from him.

Wasn't he on Nightline last week?

14. Here's the transcript from the Wilson/Russert meetup
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 02:12 PM by Unknown Known

As usual, Timmy was trying to spin for the criminal, but Wilson shot it down.

Russert: So White House officials could have been pointing out the Novak column to journalists, but that could not be considered a crime.
Wilson: In my judgment there were—after having read The Washington Post article, which quotes a source as saying that there were an initial two officials who contacted six journalists, my thinking on this is there were probably two waves. There was the potential crime of leaking my wife’s name by these two officers to six journalists. I don’t know the two. I don’t know the six journalists. I had assumed from conversations with Mr. Novak he was one. He has since said he wasn’t. And then I believe there was a second wave, which was the pushing of the story. The one was possibly illegal; the other was certainly unethical. And this is a tough town, understandably, but this is a town in which family members are not normally dragged into the public square.

10. Yes he did. Wilson spoke of the 2 waves of leaks.
The first one outting his wife, the second one attempting to push the 'his wife sent him' angle to the story.

Not to say that the press does not read this forum and probably freeps also? Although I am not aware of the freeps developing stories, only quoting from lush rimbaugh and his ilk and/or hating the Clintons?

12. Breaking WAVES

I would be interested in knowing if anyone specifically heard the "Two Waves" bit (leak + fair game = jail) before I posted it on Thursday (10/2).

17. Wilson Rides "TWO WAVES" Theory w/ Paula Zahn Sept. 29

I found an earlier reference to this phrase from CNN way back on Monday:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/09/29/cnna.wilson.zahn/

Oh well. If they haven't sourced DU already, maybe they'll take a hint and come come here for the rest of the story.

15. More evidence for VP's Office as leaker
Reports originally said (erroneously, as it turned out) that Wilson was sent to Niger at the behest of the Vice-President's Office. Who would Novak have called first in those days following Wilson's July 6, 2003 Op-Ed in _The NY Times_? The Office of the Vice-President, naturally.

Fuller logic with links:

16. No Question About It

Right on. There's no way Novak would have done the story without contacting Cheney's office.

It wouldn't make sense, by any stretch, for him to do the story without calling Dick's house.
