Archives show JFK effort for Vietnam pact
Archives show JFK effort for Vietnam pact

By Bryan Bender The Boston Globe

TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 2005

WASHINGTON Newly uncovered documents from both American and Polish archives show that President John F. Kennedy and the Soviet Union secretly sought ways to find a diplomatic settlement to the war in Vietnam, starting three years before the United States sent combat troops.

Kennedy, relying on his ambassador to India, John Kenneth Galbraith, planned to reach out to the North Vietnamese in April 1962 through a senior Indian diplomat, according to a secret State Department cable that was never dispatched.

Back-channel discussions also were attempted in January 1963, this time through the Polish government, which relayed the overture to Soviet leaders. Newly available Polish records indicate that Moscow was much more open than previously thought to using its influence with North Vietnam to cool a cold war flash point.

The attempts to use India and Poland as go-betweens ultimately fizzled, partly because of North Vietnamese resistance and partly because Kennedy faced pressure from advisers to expand U.S. military involvement, according to the documents and interviews with scholars.

The documents are seen by former Kennedy aides as new evidence of his true intentions in Vietnam. The question of whether Kennedy would have escalated the war or sought some diplomatic exit has been heatedly debated by historians and officials who served under both Kennedy and his successor, Lyndon B. Johnson....cont'd

6. It's true! He loved the commies!
Had we just put a bullet in his head, put a Texan in the White House, and REALLY escalated the war and said "SCREW YOU!" to 4,000,000 Southeast Asians and 57,000 US soldiers, then we woulda seen what woulda happened!

No, wait a minute, that's what we did do, and we still lost.

Doh!

:)

It's amazing the kind of pain that could have been relieved for our own nation and the entire world and future of the world if we could only have skipped over November 22, 1963.

8. Peace was prevented by not sending a cable. Bolton's nomination+China>
(I posted this at the thread linked to below.)

"Kennedy, relying on his ambassador to India, John Kenneth Galbraith, planned to reach out to the North Vietnamese in April 1962 through a senior Indian diplomat, according to a secret State Department cable that was never dispatched."

!!“…a secret State Department cable that was never dispatched.”!!

The CIA controlled all State Department cable traffic at this time as it no doubt does today. So a peace party was planned but someone making money on war threw away the invitations back in 1963.

There’s plenty of evidence that this tactic was in play with the nomination of John Bolton as US Ambassador to the UN, someone who recently shot off his mouth and derailed negotiations with North Korea at a critical moment in diplomatic overtures.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/5/14/51516/5747

Keeping South Korea and Japan afraid of North Korea keeps them looking to the US for protection and helping to hem in China with military bases and surveillance. China, of course, is the US's biggest competitor for oil supplies which the US military and economy (same thing) depend on.

Now even CIA Director Porter Goss is being shut out of the tiny cabal running the White House's planning for world domination. The circle of power is closing ranks.
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1069065,00.html

Revelations and spin around JFK's assassination and Vietnam are at the heart of information about the CIA and its role in history which requires deep examination of National Security Advisory Memorandum #263 (Kennedy's 'get out of Vietnam' memo) and NSAM #273 (LBJ's 'stay in Vietnam' memo suspiciously drafted the day before JKF was shot).

Many who admire Noam Chomsky's work consider one his blind spots to be
the JFK assassination and here is his 1993 comment on these NSAMs as a way to jump into the topic at the deep end.
http://www.zmag.org/chomsky/rc/rc-c02-s13.html

L. Fletcher Prouty's 1973 book 'The Secret Team: The CIA and Its Allies in Control of the United States and the World,' is a must-read to understand anything about post-WWII America when the CIA took over pretty much everything in government and the press in their role as the American KGB.
http://www.ratical.org/ratville/JFK/ST/ST.html

Investigator Mae Brussell (deceased) is also a must-read and well-respected by scholars not in the pay of the CIA which was formed with Nazi intelligence assets allied with East Coast old money fascists who supported Hitler in the 20s through WWII. Here is
'The Nazi Connection to the Assassination of JFK'
http://maebrussell.com/Mae%20Brussell%20Articles/Nazi%20Connection%20to%20JFK%20Assass.html

Personally, I've looked at the topic quite thoroughly and trust the account by (retired Air Force-CIA liason 1955-1964) L. Fletcher Prouty as the most reliable and rational with lots of corroboration if you have the time to look. Here is my summary of the situation:

The CIA was running operations in Nam after helping the French in the 50s. Massive profits from Golden Triangle opium/heroin for their covert activities and personal fortunes plus war-profiteering for the Military Industrial Complex back home were the real reasons for staying in Vietnam.

Kennedy came to realize the CIA was his biggest problem after the Bay of Pigs disaster which was already in planning under VP Nixon's supervision when JFK took office due to election fraud (an old problem). This was a surprise obstacle for the Prescott Bush-Nixon fascist cabal who were already planning how to spend all the money they would make in Vietnam with weapons contracts already allocated to the 'correct' congressional districts. Lots of people were getting rich on war, just like today.

Kennedy fired CIA Director Allen Dulles (one the leaders of the Bush-Nazi-supporters in the 30s and 40s who armed Hitler) and spoke of tearing apart the CIA to restore the presidency to elected officials. He thereby signed his own death warrant. When JKF signed NSAM #263 to pull 'advisors' out of Vietnam, the hit squads comprised of mercenary Mafia triggers and Cuban exiles (plausible deniability assets which CIA still uses today) were already being organized to kill him in either Miami, Chicago, or Dallas.

A CIA-assisted coup and killing of the problematic US puppet leader of South Vietnam without Kennedy's permission was the last straw for JFK as he realized he had no control over the CIA which was carrying out its own 'foreign policy' with nuclear missiles barely contained in Cold War tensions.

NSAM#273 was drafted the day before JFK was murdered and LBJ signed it a few days later thereby putting the Vietnam War back on track at full speed. LBJ was cooperative with CIA policies where JFK had been a roadblock. LBJ urged Defense Secretary Robert McNamara to charge into Vietnam despite McNamara's early voiced misgivings about the whole thing, much like the inside dramas leading to the US invasion of Iraq.

10. I tend to trust Prouty's observations, too. He was definitely in....
...a position to know about the things he discussed.

One of the most telling pieces of evidence of the JFK assassination was the timing of the drafting of NSAM 273. As far as I can determine from my readings of that time period, JFK had no knowledge that 273 was being prepared on November 21, 1963. As you noted, LBJ signed 273 on November 26, 1963, and the Vietnam War began to escalate from that point.

In fact, JFK spent the night of November 21st in Ft. Worth, TX, where he had a rather nasty argument earlier in the late afternoon with LBJ concerning LBJ's desire to have Connally, LBJ's political crony, ride with him, and to have Yarborough, JFK's friend, ride with JFK. The only concession that LBJ won was the placement of the Secret Service car between the limos of JFK and LBJ. Somebody also managed to change the motorcade route itself...the original plan did not include the dogleg that the motorcade ended up taking around Dealey Plaza.

LBJ angrily left the Ft. Worth hotel to attend a "get-together" at oil baron Clint Murchison's house outside Dallas. LBJ was the last one to arrive of a group that included John McCloy, Richard Nixon, J. Edgar Hoover, George Brown, R. L. Thornton, H. L. Hunt, three former CIA execs that had been fired after the Bay of Pigs fiasco, a few current CIA operatives, and several high-ranking military officers.

After LBJ arrived, that group retired to a private room while the party continued. What was discussed is largely left to conjecture, but LBJ later told a confidant, "After tomorrow those g___d___ Kennedys will never embarrass me again---that's no threat---that's a promise." The next morning, LBJ stated to the same confidant, "That son-of-a-b____ crazy Yarborough and that g__d____ f____ Irish mafia bas____, Kennedy, will never embarrass me again!".

Rather telling remarks, don't you think?

12. Stock market profits when JKF was killed, just like on 9/11. The Octopus.
(Oh, look. An Argentine-controlled company made a 'killing' on 11/22/63. I seem to recall that an investment firm run by the former #3 at CIA was where the put-options on United and American Airlines were placed before 9/11 resulting in huge yet unclaimed profits. Now that's INSIDER trading. And here's that infamous moniker, the Octopus.

(The Nazi Connection to the JFK Assassination)

The stock market dropped 24 points in 27 minutes when news of President Kennedy's assassination was announced. 2.6 million shares were sold off. It was the greatest panic since 1929.
Somebody made a huge profit selling short in many markets.
Somebody made half a billion dollars in one day. Coincidentally, the Allied Crude Vegetable Oil Refining Corporation, headed by New Jersey commodities dealer Anthony De Angeles, crashed the same day, driving the market down.
Allied Crude was controlled by U.S. American Bunge Corporation and financially controlled by a group of share-holders headquartered in Argentina, known as "Bunge and Born, LDA."
Business Week of October 19, 1963, one month before the Kennedy assassination, described the Born family in Argentina, the biggest shareholders for Bunge, as being from Europe, specifically Germany.
Everything about Bunge has German influence. They have a $2 billion annual business in 80 countries. There are over 110 offices, all linked by Telex and under-the-ocean telegraph channels. The Bunge Corporation is referred to as "the Octopus."
The book Were We Controlled? detailed the relationship of the Bunge Corporation, the foreknowledge of Kennedy's murder, and the Argentine-German connections.

4. Why they killed J.F.K.
J.F.K didn't want the war, but the military industrial complex with most insiders from Texas, wanted it, Johnson wanted it goaded by his state's industrial bloc.

This time the neo cons wanted it years before , and they pulled it off too.

The greatest threat to our Republic comes from within, not from outside.

However, Kennedy was trying to stop a war, and Bush was trying to start one.

9. I guess that kills Ben Stein's theory about Nixon/Deep Throat....
from the other day where he said that Nixon was a lying, conniving peacemaker which was completely opposite of JFK who was a lying, conniving war-starter. Rats... not!

I'm glad to see this is getting released now. The American public (myself included) can never get enough JFK info.

11. To have been a "peacemaker", Nixon certainly participated in....
...a number of things that put the lie to that comment.

Nixon was one of the architects of the anti-Castro Cuban organizations, and was one of the chief planners of the Bay of Pigs invasion. Prior to that, Nixon was the White House point of contact for a shadowy covert action organization known as the 5412 Group. Members of this group included Al Haig, Frank Sturgis, and E. Howard Hunt. Gee...those guys seem to pop up everywhere, don't they.

The 5412 Group was allegedly responsible for carrying out assassinations of heads-of-state in Central America and the Caribbean. Interesting work for Tricky Dick, wasn't it?

13. You'll probably remember Nixon's Cuban friend, Bebe Rebozo
who always seemed truly shady.
Forbes Fact
Bebe Rebozo, a prominent Cuban-American businessman, may have been most famous for his close friendship with Richard Nixon. Rebozo was with Nixon when the late president was first informed of the Watergate break-in; he was also there on the evening Nixon decided to resign as president in 1974. Rebozo passed away of a brain aneurysm in May 1998 at the age of 85.

Just for "fun," here's a view of Nixon's Florida vacation house which he bought to be close to his pal...

14. Biscayne Bay -- Rosselli's body found day before his JFK murder testimony
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 07:58 AM by Merlin
Rosselli was found hacked up and stuffed in a 55-gallon drum floating in the bay front of the Nixon/Rebozzo compound.

Rosselli was due to testify the next day about his role in the JFK assassination, as part of the CIA's contract with the mafia.

A similar thing happened a month earlier in Chicago to Sam Giancana, another mafia don, friend of both Sinatra and Jack Ruby, and co-lover, with JFK, of Judith Exner. Somebody got into his apt. and put a bullet through his mouth while he was cooking sausages.

Not that this should persuade anybody of the phony idea that "The Mafia did it!" That's just a ruse cooked up by the real assassins who were mostly from the military and intelligence community (Hoover, Curtis Lemay, Allen Dulles, Charles Cabal, etc.).

These high profile mafia killings were, imo, more to throw suspicion on the mafia--as JFK assassins--than to shut anybody up.

(p.s. These are some great pics. Thanks. I'm actually impressed with Rebozzo's taste! Pretty sure Bebe bought the place for tricky Dicky.)

16. George De Mohrenschildt also conveniently "committed suicide"...
...right before he was to be interviewed by an investigator for the House Select Committee on Assassinations.

DeMohrenschildt had a very interesting background, including an association with the CIA, Big Oil owner Clint Murchison, the White Russian community living around Dallas, and Lee Harvey Oswald.

18. Right you are. Offed himself with a shotgun just before lunch.
Gaeton Fonzi, the masterful investigator and author working then for Sen. Schweiker, on the Church Committee, was on the way to see DeMohrenschildt at the time. (Schweiker, a Republican, was an honest man who called the Warren Report "Pablum"),

Gaeton's book "The Last Investigation" is absolutely the best about the House Select Committee's mission to cover up the JFK murder. I had lunch with him one day and he described the erie experience of going to the CIA, as the official investigator for the US Congress looking into the murder of a President. After 3 hours of waiting he was ushered into a room full of wall safes with only a table and a chair for furniture. Two CIA goons in black stood guard at the table. To review a document, Gaeton would have to specify the exact document title. The goons would request it. Somebody on the other side would put it in one of the safes. Both goons had to use separate keys to open the safe. They would hand the file to Gaeton. He could read it. He could even take notes. He was not permitted to copy it. At the end of the day, as he left, he was required to surrender all of his notes!!! Jesus! It's fucking frightening what kind of a country we live in!

George DeM is one of the more colorful and fascinating characters in the whole phenomenally complex tale. He was -- get this! -- a childhood friend of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy! The were co-chairs of the National Lukemea Foundation at the time of the assassination. He was unquestionably US intelligence, working with the oil industry (the CIA's favorite business in which to camoflauge agents), and assigned to babysit the White Russian community in Dallas, as well as LHO.

DeMohrenschildt's unpublished book is in one of the appendixes of the HSCA report (probably available at the local library). It is a fascinating read.
