Reid criticism of Bush resurfaces: Senator cuts off reporter's questions
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 09:38 AM by NVMojo
It must be payback time for DeLay smearing and if so, this is weak.

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Harry Reid's provocative criticism of President Bush appears to be getting in the way of efforts by the Senate Democratic leader to promote other issues.

During a news conference Monday to advance an agenda on matters facing U.S. families, Reid testily cut off a reporter's questions about his descriptions of Bush as a liar and a loser.

"I know you hate to give up on that," Reid said. "I apologized for the loser. I haven't for the liar. But with all due respect to you: Maybe you could come up with something else."

When the reporter, Ed Henry of CNN, tried to follow up by asking Reid whether it is helpful to call the president a liar, Reid snapped, "I answered the question."

1. Love this part!

" Reid also is the subject of a story in the June 16 issue of Rolling Stone magazine, in which he had the following exchange with an interviewer:

Q: You've called Bush a loser.

Reid: And a liar.

Q: You apologized for the loser comment.

Reid: But never for the liar, have I?"

12. Maybe not helpful to the president, but helpful to the country and world
I'm glad he stuck by his guns. If journalists are going to demand lock-step loyalty to someone who only has an allegiance to himself and a small cabal of economic monarchists, then the journalists should take some heat too.

Yes, it's helpful to humanity itself to call a loutish, unremitting liar a liar. It's good for the country and for the rest of the world, and it's supremely helpful. George W. Bush is a pathological, totally unprincipled, continual liar of the soul; he lives a lie, he stands for lies and he whips up whoppers faster than Burger King.

My father - an excellent semanticist, among many talents - taught us that "to call a son of a bitch a son of a bitch, is to be, above all, accurate."

If only our media had the balls left to do so. No sack, no stones, no story...

15. Reid "snapped" ROFLMAO!!!
That's not an overstatement, it's a blatantly purposeful mischaracterization. I heard Reid. It was matter of fact and precise. (period). There was no "snap" in tone.

I guess it rocked the 'reporter' on his heels that he couldn't manipulate the situation pushing his bias. Reid's correct...he could have come up with something else, and chose not to.

25. Naturally, the story is framed in the customary Rovian Fashion
The problem is Harry Reid.
The problem is Harry Reid.
The problem is Harry Reid.

Standard Imperial Amerikan "Journalism" Formula, circa 2005 AD:

Whenever anyone has a problem or criticism of the Imperial Family or various Minion of the Imperial Family, the REAL STORY is ALWAYS the treasonous, unpatriotic accuser and how their "wild-eyed" as well as their irrational hatred of our Glorious and Godly Leader, just keeps getting inthe way of doing their job.

I have now seen this replayed a thousand times using a hundred different variants. It is as standardized as if beetle-browed OHS Officers were stationed at every Newspaper and TV Station. How the Busheviks managed Soviet-style media uniformity without the overt controls is a True Addition to the Evil Genius Hall of Fame, a DEFINITE improvement and progress over the original Goebbelsian Methodology prior to it's enhancement by Karl Rove et al in the beginning of the 90s.

It is as mundane to a Totalitarian or a Bushevik as it is shocking and appalling to Free People.

The questions, as always in Imperial Amerika, is NOT whether criticisms of the Emperor and the Imperial Administration are valid or wheteher they should be investigated.

They are and will never be investigated.

The question, for the enslaved (but very gently so, for the moment)subjects of Imerial Amerika as fed to them by their (our) Corproate TV Pravda is, "What is wrong with those people for daring to speak against our Glorious and Pious Ruler?"

God, I miss the days when America was free. I miss the American People of the post-WWII era, now over and gone.

27. Hmmm....
"When the reporter, Ed Henry of CNN, tried to follow up by asking Reid whether it is helpful to call the president a liar, Reid snapped, 'I answered the question'."

Not an effective reply (whether he snapped or not). Reid was on the defensive here. When you're in a battle with an enemy - you should ALWAYS play offense - never defense. I'd like to see the Dems try to embarrass and humiliate an occasional reporter like Henry - reframe the issue and make it all about Ed Henry, and the fact that he is a lap-dog for the Bush administration. Come prepared with a couple of examples and challenge his objectivity and bias; really try to do some personal damage to the guy. Choose one reporter and make it very personal. Separate one reporter from the herd - maybe praise a couple of other reporters and comment about something specific they did (IOW, don't come off like paranoid Nixon who tried to trash the entire media). Make him loose sleep at night over being ridiculed on national television.

--Play offense - never defense.
--Make it personal.
--Separate one from the herd by praising others.

We've got to do things differently.

I don't share in the optimism that anything will be solved in the corporate run place known as D.C.

You ask what am I doing here? Ans: Just waiting till the time most everybody can see this as well. People are told this how you must find the answers, but anybody that solves problems knows doing what you are told is not a way to solve problems.

Btw, I found this piece of art today, hope you like it
