Vice President Dick Cheney came to a Seattle hotel, posed for a few private photographs and spoke at a $300-a-plate luncheon, touting Reichert and the Bush administration agenda.
The visit was expected to raise about $100,000 for Reichert's re-election campaign in 2006, said his chief of staff, Mike Shields.
And that's a sum intended to make Democrats gulp.
"We want to let them
know they will have a steep hill to climb," Shields said.
By raising a lot of money early, he said, "we want to put the seat out of reach."
So this is democracy, is it? Whoever has the most money wins! Don't sound very democratic to me.
