Conyers says MoveOn.org joins Downing Street memo petition drive
RAW STORY

Congressman John Conyers (D-MI), the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, has announced that MoveOn.org will join his petition calling on President Bush to provide new answers surrounding the lead-up to war in Iraq, RAW STORY has learned.

"Today, I am pleased to announce that Moveon.org, one of the pioneers in internet activism has joined our drive to demonstrate that the stonewalling of the White House on the Downing Street Minutes will not stand. We deserve answers and we deserve them now," Conyers said in a statement.

"Given Moveon's involvement, I think we can go for half a million signatures, don't you?" he wrote on his blog.

I'm wondering why, it took MoveOn so long to get involve??? I sent them email asking them, why aren't they involve in petitioning their members to sign Conyers letter? That was last week. I'm glad, they're joining in now! They have so many members and they can help big time!

YOU ROCK CONGRESSMAN CONYERS AND MOVEON!!!:yourock: :yourock: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :patriot:

Don't wait too long guys, it's starting to trickle out of the Corporate Owned Media attention span.

6. So, I have a question...and concern.
When is Conyers planning to do something with this petition?

I think its great that the number of signatures is getting larger and larger. But, I hope there is a date when this gets delivered.

I hope the petition's value in the news and hence its power in the political cycle isn't lost.

8. Randi Rhodes said something about getting 250,000 and then
Conyers and the 89 Reps who signed on would walk the petition to the White House.

Conyers apparently taking Joe Madison's advice from the Media Forum a week or so back...

9. Conyers wisely does not refer to it as a "memo"
Anyone who reports or discusses it here should follow his lead and use "Minutes". I'm sorry to see Raw Story translate Conyers' "Minutes" to "memo". :eyes:
