Will Bush reject the Turks, or the ruling council?

If the Turks, then they receive over $30 billion from the U.S. for doing nothing.

If the ruling council, Bush inflames not only the Kurds, but all Iraqis who will see the U.S. as heavy handed in its dealings with them.

Bush is between a rock and a hard place.

Bush needs that council to "legitimize" what is euphemistically called local representation.

If the Bush admin goes against the council, it negates what they have worked soooo hard to promote! This could get REAL interesting!

this isn't good, the turks have been known to be very cruel to the kurds in their own country, and hopefully they'll be on their best behavior if they have to go into northern iraq where there are lots of kurds

Now the Iraqi people does have all of the colonial powers they had for the last 300 years together and united on their piece of land: the US as aheavily armed newbie, the British as former colonial master and Turkey as their traditional suppressor.

10. So we convince the Turkish folks that war is over and this is peacekeeping

otherwise a UN resolution would have been needed under their consitution - as I understand the situation.

And we gave loan guarantees in return plus some real money.

But the Iraqi's do not want the troops.
