Turkish Parliament OKs Troops for Iraq
OH S*&^%!

This is where the story goes from bad to unbelievable...
10,000 Ottomans coming to "aid" U.S. occupation.

3. I can't wait to see how this plays out
Will Bush reject the Turks, or the ruling council?

If the Turks, then they receive over $30 billion from the U.S. for doing nothing.

If the ruling council, Bush inflames not only the Kurds, but all Iraqis who will see the U.S. as heavy handed in its dealings with them.

Bush is between a rock and a hard place.

8. I agree!
Bush needs that council to "legitimize" what is euphemistically called local representation.

If the Bush admin goes against the council, it negates what they have worked soooo hard to promote! This could get REAL interesting!

5. is this really that great of an idea?
this isn't good, the turks have been known to be very cruel to the kurds in their own country, and hopefully they'll be on their best behavior if they have to go into northern iraq where there are lots of kurds

13. it's even worse (new world record)
Now the Iraqi people does have all of the colonial powers they had for the last 300 years together and united on their piece of land: the US as aheavily armed newbie, the British as former colonial master and Turkey as their traditional suppressor.

They'll love it!

(And it's worth to be listed in Guiness' Book of World Records)

Greeting from Good Old Europe

10. So we convince the Turkish folks that war is over and this is peacekeeping
otherwise a UN resolution would have been needed under their consitution - as I understand the situation.

And we gave loan guarantees in return plus some real money.

But the Iraqi's do not want the troops.

Does the Bush right hand know what the left hand is doing?
