Cheney to special ops: 'A long war ahead of us'
VP thanks ‘silent professionals’ for their anti-terrorism work

The Associated Press
Updated: 10:22 a.m. ET June 11, 2005
TAMPA, Fla. - Vice President Dick Cheney lauded and thanked international special operations soldiers for helping fight terrorism but warned them that their work is far from over.

“We have a long war ahead of us, and our enemies are waiting for us to let our guard down,” Cheney said, speaking Friday to more than 300 people at the closing of the International Special Operations Forces Week conference. “But we will not relent in this effort because we have the clearest possible understanding of what is at stake.”

Cheney also visited MacDill Air Force Base for a medals ceremony at the U.S. Special Operations Command, which oversees the nation’s elite military units, including the Navy’s SEALs, the Air Force’s Special Operations Command and the Army’s Rangers and Green Berets.

His speech at the conference culminated a week that brought together U.S. special operations leaders and their counterparts from 59 countries. The event also included businesses and civilian defense contractors to talk about weapons systems specially created for special operations forces.

Until there is a draft the USA won't be invading anyone. I would guess rummy is planning a lot of air strikes.

Even if they dont send it towards the US they'll probably dump it on S. Korea.

they promised to rebuild Iraq when the 'war' was over! How in hell are we ever going to be able to do that?
We aren't even taking care of a lot of our wounded soldiers. And nothing brings back our dead.
What about the Iraqi people, the kids?
My husband had the news on. I walked in and there's crackhead getting out of the helicopter smiling and waving...I'm sick, just sick.

38. "crackhead getting out of the helicopter"
Carla, every time I see Bush on TV (which is less and less lately, since I seldom have my TV on) my stomach twists into knots.

I think there's something inside me that sees the destructive and hateful personality within him. That guy ain't right, mentally. Criminal mind. If his name wasn't Bush, he'd be in prison.

10. We can read into that really easy...
Long war, has several implications...

1) Bush will seek to overturn term limit amendment until the long war is over
2) Halliburton and other companies aren't making enough money
3) A draft is imminent, if not already here in some form

You know, that never-to-be-successful-as-long-as-it's-making-money War on Terrah, like the War on Drugs.

That War on Terrah, the incubus of the PNAC neocon pack of rabid dogs, frothing at the mouth for power and money.

That War on Terrah that will never be over, as long as PNAC breathes.

This is a list of the current businesses doing well in the aftermath of our war:

He(as well as the Bushes and their cronies) have a huge investment in all these companies(which are doing REALLY well,by the way)

this has some good background on Cheney's actions.

Whatever you think of Ayn Rand, I read a remark of hers years ago about this. She said that whenever you hear someone say that "we've go to do this," or "this is our obligation," and so forth, what he is saying is that someone else - you - will get to do the work, while he's nowhere to be found.

even in the short term to fund your "cash cow" war machine.

Even when the Army revised it's recruiting goals, it didn't meet the minimums.

God Bless America! Where the common people (even some freepers waking up) are not as DUMB as this criminal Executive Branch is GREEDY.

No, don't pass the AMMO! The vast majority of the American people will no longer send their Sons' and Daughters' to be disfigured or killed for the military corporations' cash cow known as "Bush-Co" and "Caryle."
