Gunmen attack checkpoint, killing four police (Baghdad / Baquba road)
BAQUBA, Iraq, June 13 (Reuters) - Insurgents attacked an Iraqi police checkpoint on the main road between Baghdad and the town of Baquba on Monday, killing four policemen and injuring 10, police said.

Gunmen in three cars approached the checkpoint and began firing, killing four policemen and injuring seven before fleeing the scene 25 km (15 miles) south of Baquba.

Minutes later, a car bomb blew up near a police car that was travelling to the scene of the attack, injuring a further three policemen.

Two earlier blasts on Monday aimed at Iraqi security forces in the restless cities of Tikrit and Samarra killed eight Iraqis.

3. Probably rooted in something more simple: Money.
Paid for a hit job.

Feels like the insurgency has turned into a mafia-type operation. Kingpins running the show and getting people to do their hits for some cash.

5. I'd love to see every document and read every transcript...
of every meeting related to the Iraq war and the post-invasion "clean-up".

I'm sure it would scare the living daylights out of every American.
