W. House to project smaller budget deficit-Cheney
"It's messed up. Just not as bad as we thought it would be"

WASHINGTON, June 13 (Reuters) - The federal budget deficit this year will be smaller than the $427 billion initially forecast by the White House because of stronger-than-expected economic growth, Vice President Dick Cheney said on Monday.
Cheney offered no dollar figures, but private-sector budget experts said they expected the White House to revise this year's deficit projection to around $350 billion from the $427 billion forecast by the White House in February.

"I would expect that by the time we do our mid-session (budget) review, that we'll see the deficit is smaller than was originally forecast because of increased economic activity," Cheney said in a question-and-answer session at a journalism awards ceremony.

3. I don't believe it.
I think if anything, the figures are higher than the estimated $427 billion.

I'm an accountant, and I can't trust the figures they put out. I've seen them consistently underreported. Any discrepancies are always in their favor, never the other way around. I've seen this done many times, and from different government agencies.

They are, in fact, not believable.

Just like Elaine Chao from the Labor Dept. fudged the unemployment figures.

5. Is this like the earnings statements that Dick got revised at Halliburton
by Andersen?

As soon as the ink is dry on this new, improved, revised and wholly imaginary numbers, Dick will go to the rubber stamp Congress for another hefty increase for Iraq or whatever and get a $200 billion. That should make the budget exactly where Dick wants it.In a sea of red ink.Come to think of it that was the way the earnings statements at Halliburton looked until Dick discovered his cost plus contracts for Iraq.

He is a great business genius, this Dick.
