4 U.S. Troops Hurt in Afghan Bomb Attack

By PAUL HAVEN
Associated Press Writer

June 14, 2005, 8:43 AM EDT

KABUL, Afghanistan -- A bomb exploded Tuesday near a U.S. military vehicle on a road in central Afghanistan, wounding four American troops and their Afghan interpreter, the U.S. military said.

None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, and U.S. aircraft were sent to the scene to transport the wounded to a hospital, said spokesman Lt. Col. Jerry O'Hara.

The attack occurred during a routine patrol in support of an ongoing operation south of Ghazni, south of the capital, O'Hara said.

"Terrorists, who often pay impoverished Afghans to detonate these devices for them, are behind these brutal attacks," he said. "These criminals know they cannot stand up to Afghan and coalition forces, so they are forced to resort to these tactics."

3. Sounds like Afghan resistance has reorgasnized and relaunched.
After the Afghan chaos after 9/11/01, with the Afghan people resolutely rejecting the maniac taleban, it seems that the old Afghansi has reorganized itself and has relaunched resistance. Perhaps they were more focused on political networking and building grassroots support previously. That is how guerrilla war is sometimes.

4. Taliban is back in charge
sadly, we surrendered the war on Taliban/Al Queda by committing all of our troops in Iraq. The learned critics of the war said the illegal invasion would rejuvenate recruting among the real terrorists, and so it has. Too bad * is too dumb and sheltered to realize what his SS Lincoln photo-op wrought. If he knew, he might resign in shame.
