Two Bulgarian soldiers from the country's fifth Iraq unit died last night in an accident on a local road approximately 55 kilometers south-east of Divaniyah.
Going by armored personal carrier BRDM-2 the soldiers were executing a patrol during "White Shield" operation. While performing the task the BRDM-2 slipped off a dike, fell into a canal and turned on its side. As a result of the accident three soldiers were seriously wounded.
The three wounded soldiers of the four-member crew were immediately rushed to the hospital. In spite of intense care two of them - private Tsvetan Stoyanov Kamov and private Paun Stoyanov Georgiev - died. The third one, Corporal Marin Milev Milev, was transported by Medical Evacuation to a hospital in Baghdad.
