AUSTIN - Sen. Leticia Van de Putte of San Antonio says a Republican senator last month privately used racially charged language, telling her that if Democratic senators were "going to act like Mexicans, you will be treated like Mexicans."
Van de Putte, who chairs the 12-member Senate Democratic Caucus, said she took the remark as meaning that "if we speak up, we're going to be punished, the same thing that happened to us in grade school, the same thing that happened to me in college. I thought we were beyond those days."
Two fellow Democrats who Van de Putte said were there could not recall the comment when asked about it today.

She refused to identify the Republican senator or four other GOP senators she said were also present, saying that would violate a Senate tradition of confidentiality covering conversations in the lounge off the Senate floor, where she said the remark was made.

Just a little insight into the world of white male dominance in the state of Texas.
