Bomb goes off near Baghdad mosque

A car bomb has exploded close to a Shia mosque in Baghdad as people were emerging from Friday prayers, causing an unknown number of casualties.

A suicide attacker detonated the bomb outside the building in the Iraqi capital's eastern district of Kamaliya, police told Reuters news agency.

According to an AFP news agency source, two passing fuel lorries caught fire when the car exploded.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A car bomb blew up outside a mosque Friday in the western town of Habaniyah, killing four people and injuring another 15, the U.S. Marines said

U.S. soldiers, some of whom witnessed the 1 p.m. attack, responded to the scene, along with police and the Red Crescent society, said Marine Capt. Jeffrey Pool.

Habaniyah, which is in restive Anbar province, is located 50 miles west of Baghdad.
